JR is a class act. I wish this young man all the luck in the world. Unfortunately for him I'm guessing he will go to the Raiders.
The difference between this Saints team and prior very good teams is Brees and Peyton. Sure, Bush, Colston and Deuce are very important to the Saints' success, but from an overall talent standpoint, the Saints are average. Offensive line, linebackers, secondary, tight ends and to some extent, the DL are all overachieving this year and many of them will be replaced through free agency or the draft. This team is awesome because they are just that. A TEAM. One with solid coaching and solid QB play. I am not intending to slight the Saints. The opposite, in fact. I am very impressed and happy to be able to follow the Saints again without risking my health and the safety and sanity of family and pets.
I agree that Brees & Peyton have been the major difference makers. Granted, I've only been able to see a few Saints games this year but it appeared that they had more talent & depth than previous teams. Out of curiosity, happen to know the number players on last years roster that aren't on this years roster?
If that is JM decision i will wish him the best. I will wait to hear him announce before taking it for sure. He has been a great Tiger and i thank him for everything he has done. Good luck JM.
I don't know the number but there were a lot of them. Payton figured they went 3-13 so who needs 'em. He made some good moves, e.g., Fujita and the guy from Philly (?) he got for Stallworth, but McCormack and Thomas are not very good. Roman Harper was looking to be the real deal at Safety, but he got hurt. This team far exceeded expectations and as much as I'd love to watch the Saints in the NFC CG, I won't be too down if they lose to Philadelphia/Dallas/Seattle.
You're right. I did a quick scan between this & last years roster and it looks like only about two dozen of this years team were on last years.
simoneau is the name you are looking for. who's mcCormack? http://www.neworleanssaints.com/roster.cfm disagree on hollis thomas not being good. we were very suspect against the run in his absence. i would label as average all three linebackers and would strongly recommend the franchise address that position as well as cornerback in the draft so that chad johnson doesn't make fred thomas his bitch once again.
Sorry to hear this news. JM's gonna be a solid NFL QB and he'll make a boat load while he's there... I'm just sorry it will probably be with the Raiders. Too bad get won't go to Detroit and throw for about 4K yards with Mike Martz.
I guess your weakness must be NFL football. How the hell you say Thomas was not very good is extremely mindboggling. He was arguably our defensive MVP up until the point in which he was suspended. Here are the genius moves by the 2 headed monster Loomis/Payton: 1) Drew Brees in free agency - gave up on Aaron Brooks 2) Scott Fujita in free agency - solid OLB this year 3) Traded Wayne Gandy (aka "False Start" Gandy) for Bryan Scott and a #6/#7 conditional draft pick in 2007 4) Traded for Scott Shanle from Dallas for a late round draft pick in 2007 5) Traded Donte Stillhurt for Mark Simoneau plus a #3/#4 conditional draft pick in 2007 - Stillhurt missed considerable time as usual due to a reoccurring malignant tumor in his hamstring 6) Drafting Reggie Bush in round 1 - in running for ROY 7) Drafting Roman Harper in round 2 - was playing really well before a season ending injury 8) Drafting Jahri Evans in round 4 - gave up on Wayne Gandy (aka "False Start" Gandy) - pro bowls in his very near future 9) Drafting Rob Ninkovich in round 5 - was a contributor on defense before a season ending injury 10) Drafted Zach Strief in round 7 - was a very dependable backup (started 1 game and played really well) 11) Drafted Marques Colston in round 7 - would have been ROY had it not been for the injury 12) Traded down 9 spots with Cleveland getting Jeff Faine in round 2 - still drafted Harper - solidified the O-line - you gotta love the way Brees jumps on up on him after passing TDs 13) Traded down 9 spots with Philly getting Hollis Thomas in round 4 - still drafted Evans - Thomas was arguably defensive MVP of Saints thru week 12 That's an awful lot of moves going terribly, terribly right. Got rid of any negativity/baggage of the "old Saints", namely Stillhut and Gandy. Mickey Loomis obvious choice for GM of the year. No one comes close. And he did pick Payton, the #1 move of them all. If you count Bellamy and Conwell, that's only 24 players from last year (out of 53). Bellamy was not on the team until Stoutmire got hurt later in the season. Conwell is likely done for his career and will not be on the playoff roster due to a season ending injury.
Good luck JR, congrats on the Sugarbowl MVP! You deserve the millions you will get! Of all the qb's I have seen come and geaux, I believe JR will be the next great LSU pro QB. Pure talent and an improving mind. I hope he can go where he will be under the guide of intelligent pro qb, who will tutor him not only in the game, but also in the scary world of "instant celebrity millionaires". GOOD LUCK! Thanks for the 3rd Sugarbowl this century!:geauxtige !!!!!!!!!
