I think we're the only fans who in nation who do this; especially in such a big game on the road. He made mistakes but he atoned for them. What more do you want? I understand that YOU feel he's not where he should be, but you do understand that we won, right? Do you really think MF wins that game for us? Just be glad you're not an Alabama fan right now.
Some good analysis in this thread. Istlsls makes some decent points, but too easily glosses over (or inaccurately portrays) key parts of Russell's game. Just as in most discussions here, reality lies between the two extremes. Keep in mind that JR is a COLLEGE QB. He's not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. He's a college QB. JR is heads and shoulders above our next-best QB option (Perrilloux.) Bottom line is JR is HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD. Sure, it bites him sometimes, but the guy doesn't get the yips and is a winner. I'll take that kinda guy anyday.

And go look at how they fared in some of their biggest games in college. I seem to remember them having some extremely tough games vs the best defenses they faced.

There are very few facts presented on this boad, mostly opinion. It is just that some people are so into thier selfs that they believe thier opinion to be fact. The man that started this thread has done a very good job of breaking down the BCS our chances. He tells us all we still have chance to go the SECC game. Yet, he thinks that the coach and the QB got lucky. Maybe once you get lucky, but you do not go 21-4 on luck. He is just waiting for the day he can say, "I told you so". Sad!

WHAT IF stupid morley gets just a little more force on the ball and makes it a little more clear, then we COULD have been ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter and crompton WOULDNT have led an 80 yard drive. 14-3 at the half. JR throws the pick, mess up, no doubt, it was a fluke people, i guarantee he doesnt have another throw like that this year, 14-10. WHAT IF our defense doesnt give up another deep throw over the middle to meachem, WHAT IF landry just gives his hand another inch towards the ball and deflects it, then we COULD have been up 28-10 in the fourth quarter and WOULDNT have needed the late game heroics of jamarcus and doucet. that is what we SHOULD have done. use logic people
No, Danthetigerfan is still champion muckraker around here. Ishtissle is just pulling our chains a bit today for some reason. He does that a lot, but he's not the most negative by far. Perhaps he is simply the only JR basher with the poor style to bash him after he won a big game.
the odd thing is that the perfectionist here easily dismiss russell's great games against the weaker opponents because well, they ARE weaker opponents. OK, that makes sense. do yall really expect that kind of game against some of the top defenses that we have faced(tenn aub fla). they wouldnt be top defenses if we shredded them apart like we did the others. it just makes no sense to have these expectations, against high quality defenses(especially ones that make us pretty one dimensional), its just not logical to expect the kind of numbers that we have achieved against bottom tier defenses. that is why they are quality defenses.
