Red you have been a valuable member of tidefans for several years and have earned our respect. The football forum on tidefans has always been a smack free, profanity free message board. Those two rules are the ones that get most people in our doghouse along with what we call "ignorant sparring". We have other LSU fans who frequent our board along with Tennessee fans, an Aubie or two, Arkansas, Florida, Sooners and a few others. We enjoy what our rivals say but "It's not what you say but how you say it". I try to remember to wipe my shoes off before coming to a rival board and if it's an Auburn board I take a complete bath afterwards.
I think the point is that you have plenty of evidence of JR's love for LSU, playing games, interviews, etc., but one picture of him with a necklace on and you assume the reasons are because he loves Bama. Based on that assumption from one picture, you are willing to publicly disown him. It seems a bit fair weather on your part. He could have worn the necklace for any number of reasons that you or I will never know. What if he lost a bet to someone? You have never had to wear an opponents hat or shirt when you lost a bet? I have and I bet most people here have as well. Regardless, that could be a reason, but it is just speculation on my part, just as you are speculating that he is supporting Bama. Is it puzzling? Yep. Are Bama fans pointing to it? Yep. So what? Russell went to LSU and never led anyone to believe that he was unhappy at the school or with the coaches, though I am sure a case could be made for the fans. Seems like a silly thing to get bent out of shape about, and merely gives validity to what the Bama fans are trying to do. Namely, getting under our skin.
I will say I enjoy reading Tidefans. I don't post much because I think that most of my comments would be considered inflammatory (I am an AUbie), even if the intent was not. TideFans is harder on their own than any I have seen, but they are consistent. I can disagree with folk about LSU issues here and it isn't taken as an affront, but it is a different board. Like Red said, take time to learn the culture of where you are at and things will be OK. I see folk calling for Red all the time at ITAT as the resident LSU expert\apologist. He battles without smack and adds a lot to that particular forum.
This thread really should be retitled "Tiger's Den Thread About Nothing" I think 15-20 different things have been covered.
