:dis: It's sad to see this coming from an LSU fan... Quinn had two legitimate threats in Samadzja (sp) and McKnight. Both are great wideouts. And for your infromation, Samardzja had MANY mismatches because of his size, just go see some tape. Quinn would have never put up those numbers if it wasnt for Samardzja, his size enabled him to catch a lot of passes (good ones and bad ones). Not to mention you seem to give our O-line more credit than due, remember the Auburn game? How many seconds did Russell get from his O-line. Russell would drop back, and find 2 guys right in his face, please see some tape. While Quinn freaks out the minute he sees a LB blitzing. AND, Quinn could never really perform during the big games, he just collapses (see the LSU and Michigan game). For you to sit here, and take away credit from Russell for what he's done for this team, isnt a quite nice act. Bottom line, Russell is a much better QB than Quinn, period. And, go ahead neg rep me.
Well, for whoever wrote me "why worry about neg rep?" with a red, you need to reread what I wrote. I dont worry about electronic points that wont make life easier. I was pointing it out so that if he's offended by those FACTS I gave, then let him feel free to neg rep me if it will help him sleep at night.
I'm not so sure that's how the logic works. I'm not a huge Quinn fan, but I think it's a mistake to think that he can't have success at the next level. He did struggle against a good LSU defense, but that doesn't mean that he won't be able to handle Baltimore, Chicago, or any other good NFL D. Part of his struggles were a product of his TEAM being outclassed by the LSU athletes. There's no doubt that in the NFL he will have better offensive line and skill players that will better be able to gain separation from the DB's. I love JR and think he has all the talent in the world, but IMO it is a coin flip as to which of the QB's will have the better pro career.
On SI's Truth and Rumors report, they say that the Browns have fallen out of love with Petterson and in Love with JR. They also rank BQ #2 on their list of prospects.
There has been some speculation that the Raiders will trade their #1 pick to the Browns for a nice package, but the Raiders need a QB so bad I just don't see that happening.
I hope they trade down as well. Jamarcus deserves better, IMHO. Of course, the prize for the best player in the draft is generally that they get to play for the worst team in the NFL. Here's my take on Jamarcus vs Quinn. JR proved over and over again that he will not be rattled, while Quinn proved over and over again that he is easily rattled. Every single time Quinn faced a strong defense, he sucked. Jamarcus always fought to the bitter end, and on most occasions, came out on top. I watched a lot of tape from Quinn's pro day, and the only one praising him was, guess who, Chollie Wies. He said things like "he made every throw they asked him to make". Boy, what rave reviews, from your own coach at that. I saw a lot of his throws during pro day, and his recievers were constantly catching the ball over the wrong shoulder after spinning around to do so, or slowing down to a near stop to catch the ball. I guess if he made every throw they asked him to make, they didn't ask him to throw a "Bob Gibson in his prime" fastball, or a 70-80 yard fly pattern!:thumb:
If the Raiders don't have the first pick, then you really have to question if Russel would get picked first. We can argue who's better, JR or BQ, as both QBs have their strengths and weaknesses. But, in the end, all that matters is what the team with the first pick believes. And, JR, with that arm, is a better fit with the Raiders, where they're still emphasizing the long ball even as the rest of the NFL has passed them by. If you had a team that ran a west coast offense and needed a QB, then BQ would be selected first. Or, you could run into a situation where the team doesn't even need a QB and instead picks Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson.
