Vince Young is helping JR out a lot. Intangibles are too often overlooked, and as the NFL fills up with losers at QB, they simply have to look at whether a quarterback is a leader of men. Take the best QBs, and they're obvious leaders -- Brady, Manning, Hasselbeck, Favre, etc. That translates into wins, even if there is inferior talent surrounding the QB. Just look at any of Favre or Young's wins this year. On the other hand, you have QBs that can make all of the throws, and have the measurables, but give the team just about no confidence in themselves or their QB. And yes, I'm aiming this squarely at guys like David Carr, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Boller, and Jeff George.
No doubt the leadership skills are there for JR. It's gonna be critical he lands with a team with a great OC and QB coach.
