Of course the interviewer was expecting to hear Roethlisberger, Leinart, Marcus Vick, Jason White or someone like that.

IM a first time poster and I'v been reading some stuff from a few months ago. Is their a clear cut #1 QB in the Tiger camp? I am for Russell. I look down the road a few years from now when he is a senior. Wow, will that be exciting.:champs:

I am for Russell. I watched him play for four years. He has one of the best arms in the nation. He could throw it in between two defenders and the defenders would only know that the ball had come once it was past him. I also saw him play in the Ala/Ms high school all-star game. He destroyed Mississippi, pretty much by himself and with the help of Chad Jackson(WR at UF). Matt Flynn has to be one hell of a QB to beat out Jamarcus.

I don't know about Bill Parcells, but other NFL coaches were definately keeping an eye on Russell. This is from Mel Kiper last year:

Q: Is there a chance that LSU will start freshman JaMarcus Russell at QB this season? -- Joe Graffeo, Baton Rouge, LA

KIPER -- Russell is an incredible talent. Phil Savage, the personnel director for the Baltimore Ravens, actually told me about Russell. And I met Russell at the Senior Bowl three years ago when he was a young kid at the high school level.
He looks the part of a big time QB. He's big at 6-5, 220 and has a great arm combined with very good mobility. He's a great recruit for Nick Saban's program. LSU has a very good situation this year at QB. They already have two experienced QBs in Matt Mauck and Marcus Randall. Russell -- depending on whether or not he redshirts this year -- probably won't start this year but may start his sophomore year. I look forward to Russell having a great SEC career.

I'm pullin for the best man to win the job. Alot of these guys here on the Marcus Randall wagon are only saying they are Randall backers because they believe you can't win a MNC with a frosh at QB. Stats, like records are made to be shattered eventually.
I think Russell will be starting for the OSU game. JMO, but may the BEST man win.

Agreed. You gotta admit that even having this problem is great because it shows the quality of players we now have top to bottom. I mean, we are trying to figure out who among 3 extremely talented quarterbacks will outshine the others. When any other team loses a QB as good as Mauck, its a catastrophe. But I feel confident that we are so stacked with talent now that even our freshman players can immediately step in and succeed should the need arise.

And don't forget, both Flynn and Russell have been around the offensive system for over a year, they should both have a good grasp of how to lead this team. And remember, you have a sensational RB behind you, speedy, tall recievers, and a stubborn O-Line. Put in a tall, quick QB like Russell that can throw those middle screens over the D-Line's heads and into our recieving corps hands, and we'll be unstoppable.

Uuuhhh....he did get a win over the national champs (LSU) and UGA. How do you figure that sticking with Leak was the only thing he did right?

Sticking with Leak had a lot to do with the wins over both LSU and Georgia. :geaux: :lsug: :champs:

I'd have to disagree with that. Leak had nothing to do with LSU's offense not being able to score one single point. Our offense or lack thereof was the reason we lost to Florida.

Wait, you just said Ron Zook was the reason we lost to Florida. Make up your mind, which one is it, our inept offense or Zooks coaching genious? :geaux: :lsug: :champs:
