I still think the real test would be at year 3. Next year is not a good one to use to gauge the coaches because I am afraid there will be a drop off with 21 seniors leaving, esp. for the defense.

OK. Let's see if I can follow your logic. LSU is 10-1 despite the coaches and purely because of all the talent.

Once the talent is gone, the losses then become the result of coaching? Why wouldn't the losses be because of the lack of talent?

because recruiting is the responsibility of the current coach if he takes over a NC program which Miles has so it will fall on his shoulders.

of course this staff deserves much credit regardless the so-called talent. I dont think in modern times any team has had to play 10 straight regular season games, much less win them all. Add to that we did it with the most overrated wide receivers of all time. Jamarcus finally had a mediocre day and still looked better than 80% of other college qbs I saw around the country this weekend.

QB play can be half the battle. With JR and RP LSU should be able to overcome the big loss of seniors. Next year may we may have to score 40 each game yet we will more than likely have more losses than simply one.

I guess people will be happy with more losses as long as we score more? there are no style points in football. one loss is one loss. people better enjoy these rare times and quit trying to find fault in a #3 ranked team.

oh and I think Jamarcus simply had an off day, i didnt think he was rattled. that effortless 50 yard pass to brazell was a thing of beauty. hell, in the nfl thats a hail mary but for JR it was simply just another throw.

I agree with much of what you said, but not with this. As long as voters decide the MNC, style is a factor. I believe PSU will gain votes on us and may even leapfrog us in the polls as a result of our performance. And if that happens, VT may jump us in the BCS.

It's sad that our system takes style into account, but that is the reality of college football these days. And style is defined as scoring a ton of points. Many voters don't appreciate great defense, which is what we do best in the SEC.

certainly, if all things are equal. Paterno will get votes over anyone at this point against another coach with the same record. all those idiots crying the last few years the game has passed him by now give sympathy votes.

I told you all along joepa was still awesome. thats like the people who said the same thing about skip after his 3rd NC. its insane.

i think when its the top teams, voters vote for whom they like and not who is best anyhow. they just reason it out anyway that fits their preference.

it matters more when its teams they are indifferent about. teams such as south florida or west virginia whom they cant name 2 players from either.
