As anyone who has read any of my posts knows, I am reserving judgement on Miles. So far, so good, but Dinardo started out nice, too, however not this nice. Maybe Miles is getting used to coaching in the SEC. His receivers and running backs at OSU were pretty good and had outstanding stats that you don't see in the SEC. The competition is different - the defenses are different. Personally, I never liked Fisher, even when the great Saban was at the helm. I would like to see the offensive scheme become more aggresive and open it up a bit.
What I want from LSU is a team that is respected and feared and can compete for championships. Do we have that now? Of course. Can Miles keep us there? I am not sure. But I certainly agree you can't fire him after one loss. However I do think the offensive philosophy is lacking.
I agree. We are in great shape, but we lack that consistancy we need on Offense. great post, short and accurate. The good thing is we gain experience with each game, hopefully we improve the Offense each time out.
Wasn't Fisher calling the offense when Rohan Davey and Josh Reed were putting on a pass and catch clinic every weekend? Fisher is doing the best he can with the type of talent he has on the field. JR is not a fast or accurate quarterback that's why we throw all of those bubble screens down the line of scrimmage. It's also the reason he has to call conservative plays otherwise we would be looking at games like LSU-Florida from 2004 when we had to bench JR for the rambling Randall.
A young man comes here frustrated and gives his opinion and gets jumped on, called an idiot and a dimwit and other nasty names because he calls it like it is regarding the coaching. He was wrong to call for the coach to be fired. Miles nor anyone else doesn't deserve to be fired. They need to know what they're doing wrong and correct it. LSU coaching cost LSU the Auburn game, along with a few flags. It's a foregone conclusion now. Only an "idiot" or "dimwit" would argue that point. LSU coaching needs to improve quickly BECAUSE the FLA game is identical to the AU game and it's next week. If LSU shows up with another big game "LAME" plan like we did against AU, LSU will lose to FLA, Charles Scott or no Charles Scott. FLA WILL STUFF THE RUN! Anytime you put up the dominating stats that LSU did along with a smothering defense, you only lose when you're outcoached or in this case, outcoached and screwed by bad calls. LSU knew AU weaknesses in the secondary and FAILED to take advantage of it with proper play selection. LSU had 23 rushes that went nowhere because AU didn't respect JR, they played to stop the run and put JR in 3rd and long all game. LSU was too predictable and persistant in their rushing, that went nowhere for 3-1/2 quarters. You only have about 60 offensive plays in a game now with this new clock rule in a 60-minute game. This fact in itself calls for LSU coaching to: 1. Play more "scripted" ball or call two or three plays at a time and play hurry up in the big games to catch defenses off guard. You can also stretch the number of offensive plays you have to nearly 75 or the old clock rule #'s. 2. Start punishing defenses with some select playcalling targeting personnel mismatches. There were personnel mismatches in the AU game that were not attacked by LSU. AU clearly had LSU's number (identified our Off sets) most of the game due to coaching conservatism. LSU can ill-afford to play like it is "afraid to lose". Time to Let er rip!
Uhhh, to be a member, you need to be a contributor. As of right now you are just a poster. Oh yeah, and you don't seem to be very good at it.:dis:
