We tailgated on campus by the old Huey P. Long Fieldhouse until the black post have gone up. You can't park that close to the stadium unless you have a pass. So we have been Tailgating at the Touchdown RV area with one of our friends parents but it sucks due to the fact it is so far off campus. LSU expect fans to leave their crap out on campus while the game is going and crap will get stolen. I have walked around the campus the last two years and the atmosphere is not quite the same. This is my opinion.
LSUDAN there is a big difference between good natured smack between opposing fans and fans trashing opponents fans vehicles, throwing cups of beer at an older couple or yelling vulgar language at a guy with his wife and kids. I have no problem if college kids want to get a little rowdier than most people would find acceptable and throw beer at each other but anybody in this country should be able to attend an out of town game his team is playing without fearing for his or her safety or the security of his property or having to hear obcenities yelled at his family. Every school has its share of drunken assholes including LSU but if you really want to experience what it is like to be on the receiving end of that kind of thing put on a Denver Broncos or a Kansas City Cheifs jersey and go to an Oakland Raiders home game.
There is no excuse for harassment, vandalism, and other mahem that a few hooligans perform around here on game day. The police arrest such jackasses every game, but can't seem to get them all. It's the police that Skip should be shaking his finger at. Security is their job and they aren't getting it done. But anybody who feels that their life is threatened by the "Tigerbait" taunt is just a weenie.
C'mon now, you should be a little more understanding than that. I understand that you dont was your kids exposed to certain langauge, and thats fine- perfectly understandable. But to say "you're going to meet me and you're not going to like it," is a little much. In fact, it almost sounds like threat, something you vehemently protest further down. Just because you are in ear shot of someone, doesnt mean they are yelling for you or your kids to hear. If they are, then you have every right to say to them whatever you like, but if they arent, be polite and ask them to stop. After all, you may not like hearing their langauge when you travel to see your tigers play, but if they are students, you may be in their home. You can think whatever you want about "Tiger Bait", just know that most people wont agree. From what I have seen, it is perfectly acceptable to most groups, and even the slightest use of judgment would go a long way. 10 feet away is a reasonable distance to me, and I have never taken offense to opposing fans and their chants, especially at 10 feet. I do take a little offense in someone calling one of our traditions "dumb, trashy, low-class, offensive and childish", but hey, like you said, thats your right. Im not sure what relevance imagining being somewhere and having complete strangers yell "Tiger Bait" at you has to this thread. Certain environments have accepted and expected behaviors that otherwise wouldnt be. This is one of those times. Its a little silly to take it out of context like that. I agree with everything else you said, but man, lighten up. The last thing I want is to have the Gestapo at my back.
SINCE WHEN When did "TIGER BAIT" become so offensive to others? Because Auburn fans say it is. Well that is just a good dang reason to say it more and louder. Most fans I see that get the chant thrown their way have big smiles on their faces last thing in the world I would want to do is scar some child for the rest of their life because I called them "TIGER BAIT" my god this is a stupid subject. The fact that Auburn fans dont like our chant we have to defend ourselves BULL SHIT!!!!! Why dont we bitch at them for standing up the whole friggin game if they happen to get tickets in you section and stand in front of you the whole game. That pisses me off and RUDE as HELL. SCREW AUBURN AND SCREW THAT CIGAR SMOKIN PRICK
I'm doing a study. Since you have first hand knowledge, exactly how much acid and in what concentration does one have to take it to be this delusional?
I don't think the actual words TIGER BAIT is offensive to anyone ... it's the way a select few fans choose to say it. Getting in someone's face and yelling Tiger Bait in their ear is not appropriate. And adding the F word to Tiger Bait doesn't help either. It's about conduct, not words...
Yeah...this whole stigma we have seem to have really blows. Just the other day a friend of mine who went to Georgia Tech mentioned how obnoxious some of the LSU fans were during the peach bowl couple of years ago. I was taken a back, cause I was always under the impression that this was just a manufacrtured SEC myth.
I was at the Peach Bowl I was in the GT section and Obnoxious does not discribe how the GT fans acted towards us at Halftime in the bathroon in the stands when they were winning. We just dished it out when the Tigers took over. That street goes 2 ways baby.
