We lost 5 guys on defense drafted by the NFL -- from the very game defense that held that Bama team scoreless into the 4th quarter. They are all 5 starting for NFL teams. How often does that happen to any team? We would need turnovers, a special teams score or blocked punt in the red zone type event, and the offensive line to give Etling a chance to throw it deep to Davis or Chark and have huge plays in the passing game to win. I would give us a 10% chance to win it. We shall see. I think if we again give Bama their toughest game in the regular season it will be a win. Tuscaloosa has not been kind. Things might be different in Death Valley, but this is what it is.
They still don't have a deep threat besides Ridley he is only receiver with over 15 catches on roster against subpar schedule. They lost a lot also. They only have one DL with over 2 sacks on the year making them blitz from LB and secondary leaving them open to screens and slants which supbar teams they played so far couldn't hit. We can. Healthy Oline first time all season, Healthy Dline first time all season, Aranda is a mastermind. 2 weeks to prepare. The underdog role. We are gonna knock them out...
man i hope you're right... we match up very well with them in the passing game (minus the p.i. calls that are surely coming)... i just don't see how we make them a passing team on saturday, with the d-line being so light in the ass by comparison and with little back-up to give them a rest... again, hope i'm wrong... Knock them out? That's strong language I don't support. If we win, it will be as narrow as a razor blade on the scoreboard. Sure, they lost a lot, but they reload. We have lost a lot in depth over the years. Especially along the OL and WR positions. We have not had a comparable DL to Bama in years. Alabama has a better OL and a better DL if you look at the starters and the depth along each. That's where the game is usually won between these two teams. It's in Tuscaloosa. That's a huge factor as well.
Our DL is actually Better by the numbers this year. Look it up. As far as our offensive line it is the first time we will be healthy all season. They have the weakest defensive line they have had in at least 5 years by the numbers(I haven't gone back further) We have more advantages than our media is telling us.
