It can (will?) happen here.

The only reason it was "overt" was because of CBS and it's liberal cohorts doing what they could to ruin Bush.

And Al Qaida hardly needs reasons to get new recruits. They are indoctrinated since birth.

This is the crux and unavoidable. Israel has the downside/benefit of having been attacked repeatedly, and also living under constant threat from all sides. Americans are insulated and when a fraction of the same terror hits us, we will change dramatically. Israel's defense is proactive...now. But all their security measures are responses to previous attacks - same as ours.

Talking about it might help a fraction of us, but most people have to be slapped in the face to wake up. Sadly it will happen.

The media concern over torture really started up after the Abu Ghraib fiasco, which in turn made waterboarding a national issue, instead of a covert one.

I guess those soldiers in the pictures could have been liberal plants. Liberals, after all, are the reason everything bad happens anywhere. Stupid liberals.

So what should we do? All this article mentions is looking for unattended bags, and making sure the school can watch your kids in case of an attack. I personally don't think that there is much else that the average civilian can do. Suspiciously eyeballing brown people with turbans isn't going to do much...

i am convinced half of the things we do at airport security are just "feel good" measures to look like we are doing something.

a couple of years ago, i forgot to take a small lip gloss out of my purse and put it in my approved one quart ziplock bag of liquids, etc. good freaking lord. i was pretty much viewed as a blonde terrorist. everything in my purse and carry on got inspected and i got lectured up one side and down the other. i told the person at security to just put the damned thing in my ziplock and i didnt think she'd ever quit barking at me for suggesting such a logical thing. (she finally did tho.)

now i just stick the one little tube of lip gloss (the same one) in my jeans pocket before i go through security and there are no problems. :rolleye33:

You can stop electing politicians who think the threat of terrorism is a figment of our imagination.

I fly every week and I can tell you that the airport security is a joke.

    1. I completely stopped removing my 8oz liquids from my bag and I never get stopped. I usually have 2-3 travel size shampoos, tooth past and mouthwash in my bag. I have been stopped exactly once in about 50 flights and been asked to remove them.

    2. I have a had bags go though security with things that I forgot were in there and never got questioned. I'm talking fifths of whiskey, flasks of vodka, and even scissors.

    3. There is no rime or reason to their clothing rules. Example. I have an LSU pullover that I frequently wear when i travel. Sometimes I walk right through no questions asked. Sometimes I get quickly patted down. Sometimes I'm told to remove it and run it through the scanner. So much for consistency.

I am quite confident that, with he current security we have, I could get sufficient contraband onto an airplane to create a lot of trouble if I wanted to.
