She could easily have been walking her kids around the block. Maybe she takes her Glock with her. She's somebody I actually know. How many people do you see carrying an ak47 to a neighborhood restaurants?
Not only is this anecdotal, it's a bad anecdote. This was her home. No concealed weapons permit was needed. A cell phone could have solved the issue and no one would have been killed. Now we have two sons, fathers, brothers, etc. that are dead because the State of Florida has legalized killing. Those are all good reasons to run somewhere else. Statistics indicate that she probably would have had the gun taken from her and then raped or possibly killed with her own weapon. Do you need a concealed weapons permit to carry a firearm on your property and at your home? It's your domicile. You can't leave it in the car? You have to keep the firearm on your person? You don't need to walk around all the time with a concealed handgun.
C Congratulations, MLU. I have decided that you're not an idiot. Back in the 20's and 30's before the political correctness police banned common usage of a lot of words, the word idiot was legal classification for a person with an IQ of between 0 and 20. Since you are capable of using the internet to exercise your right of free speech under the constitution you call outdated you at least have more on the ball than a potted plant. The next step up the ladder of retardation is imbecile. An imbecile is a person with an IQ of between 21 and 50. You do at least spell most of your words correctly so you probably aren't an imbecile. I think you just might be a moron. A moron has an IQ of between 51 and 70. Now if you are going to be in charge and lead the "people like me" into reducing gun deaths you will need a title. If you will just lean forward so that in lieu of a broadsword I can tap you on the shoulder with an AK-47 I knight thee Grand Imperial Moron. Now, Sir Moron, where are you going to start? Lots of guns in the ghetto. Armed drug gangs and common criminals run rampant. Lets make it against the law for them to have guns. Oh, wait a minute. Most of them have already been convicted of at least one felony so its already illegal for them to possess firearms. They know its illegal. They are criminals. They don't care. Ok, there are a lot of good people who live in the ghetto. They would be living somewhere else if they could afford it. Lets take their guns and leave them at the mercy of all the bad guys who rule their neighborhoods. How about the middle class? They live in safe neighborhoods. They don't need guns. Of course none of them work or own businesses in areas where having a firearm might be necessary. What about the rich? What about your fat stupid dyke bitch cohort Rosie O'Donnell who rants about gun control at every opportunity but hires armed bodyguard to keep any riff raff away from her fat ass. Its your ballgame Your Royal Moronic Highness. What are you going to do?
Not a bad anecdote at all. As I also indicatehe maybe she does carry and has when out and about. That's why the Glock was "available". Now that right there is some anecdotal conjecture. You must also surmise how many might have been killed had the 71 year old NOT been armed. Here's a tip....rapists are everywhere. Why in hell should a woman have to "run somewhere else"? She should run where she wants and be prepared. Nonsense. The Kellerman study which is the most oft quoted piece of anti-gun drivel out there is full of statistical problems. One of the first being this.."in the homicide homes, 71% of the victims had high rates of criminal activity which agrees with other studies which find that 75% of murderers and 75% of cop killers are adults with long felony histories.. Hardly something that would compare to the rest of America" And in direct correlation to the issue of rape and my suggestion that the gun be drawn...."Kellerman used many statistical tricks such as limiting any defensive gun use to that where the trigger was actually pulled and excluding any gun use which occurred outside the home (such as the front yard). " So when the statistics don't bother to include a gun that is drawn but no trigger pulled, or a gun event occurring in the immediate home environs, there is a huge category of information missing.
What you said was "there is no rational reason to carry a weapon". I just gave you several rational reasons. All the time? Try to pay better attention. I stated clearly that I don't carry a weapon very much at all. Then I noted some instances where a rational person might do so. Sometimes I can leave it in the car, sometimes not. When it's on me I can control it and be responsible. When its somewhere in the car and if other people are getting in and out of the car, I can't. I also can't control it if it gets stolen from the car and ends up in the hands of a criminal. Look, I'm trying to agree with you that in most cases there is no need to carry a weapon. But saying that there is no rational reason to do so is going too far.
Lets see: well written, humorous and to the point with a degree of sarcasm. Shazzam! I jes mite bee smartor then on of them 5 graders. What gun control fanatics don't realize, and I'm not putting you in that category, is that there are already plenty of gun laws. Except in places like Chicago and Washington DC where they are super restrictive and crime has skyrocketed they are good laws. Its already against the law for a convicted felon to possess a gun. Weapons capable of firing on full auto are already illegal. I agree that the mentally ill should be prevented from owning guns but while a person's criminal record is a matter of public record its both against the law and contrary to medical ethics for a doctor to give a patient's records to the government or anybody else without authorization from the patient. There are millions of people who have sought counseling for mental problems and most of them are not wackos bent on mass killing sprees. How you prevent guns from falling into the hands of those real sickos I don't know. Especially if they act basically normal up until the time when they act abnormally.
Well put. But it doesn't mean that we can do nothing just because it is difficult. I don't see how better background checks and registration of handguns and military weapons hurts anybody that is law-abiding and sensible.
