Wow... alot of people have played the daunting Augusta National... If my memory serves me correctly you have to be a member to play, and they don't just HAND out memberships.... not saying I don't believe you but explain...
Trust me. I'm not a member. A few members of the media are allowed to play it on the Monday after the tournament.
Members can invite guest to play with them, that's typical for every fully private course i've heard of. Most private courses allow reciprocation (you can play if you're a member of another fully private course) though not Augusta to my knowledge. Anyway, I was a guest in '94.
I don't think Spurrier is a Pipe Dream I think it is a possibility. I think Spurrier played TOO much golf the last few years a florida.
VISOR BOY.....MAYBE I get the feeling that it is possible. Perhaps SS wants to get back to the top of his game, after losing in the NFL. He wanted to coach here before and he knows that we are loaded with talent and will make a run for the national championship in 2005. Could this be the "surprise" that everyone has been talking about? Of course I have no idea, but it is quite interesting to think about. TIGERS ROCK!!!!! :geaux:
Lee Corso's comments on Spurrier to LSU Lee Corso's comments about Spurrier from ESPN Gameday http://www.collegefootballgameday.com/QACorso.aspx quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is there any one person that you recommend be hired as the LSU head coach because of Nick Saban turning pro (becoming head coach of the Miami Dolphins)? Lee replies: I don’t know exactly what they’re looking for. There are some great combination guys out there. The one guy at Louisville, Bobby Petrino, has a Southeastern Conference background at Auburn and at the Jacksonville Jaguars, gives him the National Football League and the Southeastern, and the fact that he’s doing well at Louisville. So that’s why I can see he is an attractive candidate. There are other attractive candidates out there. In my mind, this is a perfect example of a guy like Steve Spurrier jumping too early and not being patient. Can you imagine if he would have waited until now? Spurrier would be the next head coach at LSU and I’ll tell you he would win national championship after national championship there. But he jumped at South Carolina too early, in my opinion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
