Sure, but that was never the issue. The issue was; how much can you spend on one player, even if that player is without question the most important player in the history of the franchise? The answer turned out to be, quite a lot, more than any player has made in one season in league history. You seem to think that the Saints could put a team of practice squad players on the field and still go 12-4, so long as Drew Brees is the quarterback. I say Loomis-Benson have a responsibility to put the best team on the field that they can, and their ability to do that would have been in big trouble had they just thrown an open checkbook to Brees.
