Wow, I agree with most of your post however the difference for me is that under Carter double digit inflation, lines at the gas pumps, gas shortages. Then you have our country, Americans held hostage, We couldn't run a successful military or rescue opertion, Our country had 0 confidence then. The average American has it so much better today if you ask me, all these issues not to mention most people can live 100% normal lives in time of war. I respectfully disagree! I'll give you everything about Carter being honest but he was a disaster. I also find it hard to believe anybody could be worse than Johnson during Vietnam.
When it comes down to it I believe Bush will get higher marks than Carter for one reason: he was more effective, and if history has shown us anything it is that Americans cannot abide ineffectiveness in their political leaders. After spending 4 years in the White House Carter had virtually nothing to show for it.
Carter had many flaws, but he did have some major accomplishments, the biggest of which was brokering The Camp David acccords in which Israel and Egypt signed a peace agreement that has held ever since. Egypt also switched international allegiances from the Soviets to the United States and has been an ally ever since. Flipping Egypt from the reds and removing a major threat to Israel was a very big deal. He brokered the SALT II deal with the Soviets that reduced the massive nuclear arsenals of both sides, sucessfully.
As bad as Carter sucked (worst US Prez ever by a wide margin) you find ways to defend him, yet you vilify Bush who is 100 times the man and President that Carter ever was. Check the poll results. You and yours are in the minority around here, and I suspect in most places.
i dunno about that dude, the whole country is getting pretty sour on bush. red is the minority here, but not elsewhere. where the country goes, red goes.
25-16 of people here so far who currently disapprove of Bush is not a minority. Quite the opposite; it is a clear majority. Roughly 61% are soured, to 39% who still support him.
Lets see . . . 39% here support Bush and 61% don't like him. Did you take math at USL or something? I notice you can't deny that Carter did actually accomplish a few worthwhile things. You just don't like that I point it out and you criticize me personally instead. Typical. I villify Bush because he's in charge NOW. It's too late to do anything about Carter, although I did villify him in 1979. Carter was not a very good president and I helped vote him out of office. I was just pointing out to Bengal Buddy that his comment that Carter left office with virtually nothing to show for it is too harsh. He had a few accomplishments. Live with it. Why don't you list some of Bush's accomplishments if you think he's such a great president. Show us some evidence that "He's 100 time worse than Carter." But you won't get involved in a discussion. You just cruise in and toss around some insults and leave again. Hit and run, guerrilla ambush debating. You might convince me if you try. Hell, I could list a few Bush accomplishments and I ain't a big fan of Carter anyway. HERE is a nice assortment of best/worst president rankings for you. Bush is doing just awful. And you might read these articles to see how others feel: The Worst President in History? One of America's leading historians assesses George W. Bush He's The Worst Ever America's worst presidents History is already ripping Bush apart. The books have been coming out for a couple of years. I rate him worse than Nixon and that's saying a lot for me.
