So, you admit that government competition did not cause private carriers to go under. So why would government competition cause private insurers to go under if government is so inefficient?
The other carriers don't deliver mail to a mailbox. You are talking about 2 completely different forms of the same type of business category. I would rather see private companies go after the USPS business than the Govt. run it.
USPS also carries parcels and they do it cheaper than the private carriers, and still they haven't been run out of business.
I understand that you think Big Govt. is some sort of solution to a problem that may or may not exist for some. You look at things so objectionable when we are talking about a totally subjective topic.
They do it cheaper? You mean they do it subsidized by you and me. And they haven't been run out of business because I and others would rather use a private carrier. But that doesn't mean they don't want the govt OUT so they can take more market share..

of course they can charge less. they set artificial pricing just like health care will do which will crush the private sector. this is basic economics. there is no real competition when you print up the money and control everything. is this really hard to understand. USPS claims its not subsidized. of course its subsidized. they get billions in subsidies yet still suck as one of the most inefficient business models ever. the fact a private industry can still compete on any level is a testament to the those businesses not the government.
