Lebron's natural skills have passed Kobe's. Kobe probably only has 1.5 years left in his prime. The thing that keeps Kobe on top for me right now is the mental aspect. Lebron still doesnt know how good he can be. Instead of using his body in the post he still prefers to play out on the perimeter. He is inconsistent from 20, yet he still takes more of those shots than anyone. He also makes more highlight plays on defense like blocking a guys layup but fundamentally he still isnt in Kobe's league. Sure, Lebron is much better as a Sportscenter highlight. Lebron is only getting better and when he becomes more consistent and smarter he will pass him. Probably will happen in a year or so.
Kobe may be a better shooter, but I don't think he has the toughness or leadership qualities of King James. The Lakers without Kobe still make the playoffs. The Cavs without Lebron probably don't.
LeBron in year 6 Kobe in year 13 LeBron PPG 27.7 RPG 6.70 APG 6.7 EFF+ 30.31 Kobes PPG 27.1 RPG 5.30 APG 4.6 EFF+ 24.30 Right now LeBron is a better passer than Kobe is, hands down. This has been the area of his game that has skyrocketed this year. I watch LeBron now and I am amazed at his court awareness. It is Magic Johnson like and that's no exaggeration. Game on the line, I pick Kobe all day long. And that's what makes it the most difficult to say the torch has been passed. LeBron has not gotten to the point where he can take over games on a consistent basis. I am not taking about for the first 3 quarters, I am talking about down the stretch. Until I see that, I can't quite pass the torch.
What's the deal with Chris Paul? Does anyone consider him as great as Kobe or Lebron, or is he just Top 5?
We can argue he is the best point guard in the league. Best overall player, I don't think so at this point. Top 5 impact players in the league? I can live with that. Kobe LeBron Wade Paul Insert Name Here
