Penalties are a pretty good indicator of player discipline and mental outlook. When players aren't focused, they make mistakes and, generally speaking, cause more penalties. This often dovetails with bad attitudes. This comes and goes. Remember Ronnie Lewis flipping off the crowd after getting booed when missing numerous FGs. That picture made the headlines, a true classic.
IMO, you could make a strong argument for stating that the '05 LSU squad is "undisciplined" compared to the '04 squad. But that's a far stretch from saying they're not a class act. I haven't seen anything to indicate that LSU's players have been anything less than classy .
Last I heard, L.Bird had a daughter he failed to recognize (although he ain't exactly poor) nor will he test for positive
I think the trash talking happens no matter who's the coach. You probably didn't know it when Saban was here because it didn't cross your mind--he was always yelling at our players so it might have been over-looked. Re-watch the Sugar Bowl vs OU. We talked a lot of trash.... Marquise Hill, in an interview after the game, admitted to knocking White to the ground early in the game and saying to him, "Hello Mr. Heisman, you'll be seeing a lot of me today" Trash talking, IMO, does nothing to tarnish, or deminish the "class act" of a football team. What I look for is that there are no "cheep shots" (like that lineman for UVA), and that we don't have players that cut up a visitor's field to take "trophy" home (Florida State does that--and if it's not grass, they literally CUT the astro turf and take a square out) and after the game, do our players want to fight the other team. If none of those things take place, "trash talking" shouldn't matter. What are we??? Kiddies??? This is a physical game....it's a MANLY game. If someone is worried about getting trash-talked on the field, then they should stay their a$$ off of it. A former high school teammate of mine played for LSU in the mid '90's and I used to love hearing them talk about their trash-talking....
C'mon! We're talking about players trash talking..... and Cparso is right. Trash talking has been a part of football players behavior for a long time. Players did it under DiNardo, Saban, and now Miles. You guys need to get over it. What's the big deal??? You plan on putting preachers, priests or minister's on the sidelines or something??? Is the head ref. part of the local church group??
I ahdn't heard that before Col. Also, if he hasn't been tested how can they be sure it is his? Shouldn't a judge order him to take the test?
He's right. As much as Larry is indeed a legend here, ask anyone in Boston what they think about him personally (not as a player) and more than likely you'll hear them tell you how much of an A-hole he was/is. He's got a "few" kids out there.... I tell ya, give a person the gift of being an awesome athlete and Bird is proof that anyone can mate.....
Is this really you Ramah? Your new posts are nowhere near the format of the old ones. Crazy stories, ellipses every 5 words, you would never laugh at something SabanFan said, stop yanking our chain and just admit this isn't the real Ramah and that it's his bookie who took the real Ramah's name to pay off a gambling debt.
I agree. It is one thing to trash talk between plays and at the line of scrimmage, it's another to get in someone's face bobbing your head up and down after a tackle or broken play. The former is sports psychology :hihi: the latter is lack of class.
