I disagree. I think that right now there are too many variables to be able to directly pin it on that. Part of it could be a new staff teaching some new technique, which when not performed right could result in penalties (like our downfield blocking which I've read our WR coach has worked extensively on & Pellini teaching our guys to focus on stripping the ball during tackles, but the guys just haven't gotten the complete hang of). Also, those stats are from a very odd beginning to a season that has had undefinable effects on these guys' psyche.

It could be a problem with Miles' control of the athletes. I'm not denying the possability. I just think it's more likely to be atleast partly from these other variables.

The sharp increase in penalties can't be denied. My perception that it relates to discipline and focus is just that, a perception on my part. I wasn't aware that Pelini was teaching our guys to focus on stripping the ball. That might explain why we seem to give up a lot of yardage after contact. I would rather see our defenders focus first on making the tackle. The turnovers will come.

Ronnie Prude is def trash talking almost after every play. The difference I see is that this team stands there and gets in the opponents face after sometimes what seems like every play and Prude was not backing it up in Game one. If trash talking takes place at the line of scrimmage that fine but to look like this is Miami U and you do it after every play give it a rest. It is a change from the Saban era.

I see players going after it all game long. It is a violent game and intimidation is a valid tactic. Players have talked to each other for years, it isn't new, just more common. I don't see spearing, late hits, eye gouging and thuggery. After a game, sportsmanship seems to rule.

What I find enlightening is after ut planted their flag at LSU, I saw this on a blog.

I agree Deceks, it's the rule and not the exception.

    CO I disagree with this:

I think we have had a complete turn around from the missed tackles and YAC from last year to this year. We've had a few plays of that nature but nothing like the 2004 had. And I believe that is one of the reason the assisted tackles numbers are so low for LSU.
