That's pretty harsh considering he's the most physical of all of our recievers. I remember people saying the same about Bowe 2 seasons ago... then he gets lasic eye surgery and catches everything thrown his way last season. Right now Lafell is second guessing himself more and more with every throw to him... but don't give up on him just yet. He'll biunce back. maybe this break is what everyone on the team needs.
Yeah, I didn't mean to sound cold with it.. Everybody has bad games, but 3-4 of them in a row is kinda really bad. I don't know if I was more frustrated at him dropping passes, or them putting him back in in situations that really needed to be completed. I mean, yeah I feel bad for the kid, but at this level in the game you gotta make those catches or ride pine... it's a dog eat dog world (or tiger eat tiger)...
Interesting combination of true and false. Bowe was improved after LASIK but still dropped his fair share. Doucet was the guy that couldn't catch a cold at first. I have a lot of faith in Lafell...he's a speed sophomore. He just needs more reps and practice. No biggie -- this is what happens with some young WRs that are used to being the best player on the field...of course deep bombs happen too, so it's good and bad.
Some of the passes dropped the last several games were bad passes, some weren't but look at like baseball. Everytime a pitcher gives up the HR... his confidence starts to get shaken and he startsw trying harder to avoid the center of the plate leading to either walking the batters or giving up the clutch hits. Same thing here... even when the drop isn't his fault their all taking a tol on him. He's young, but without him on the field we lose. He'll get it together. He'll be a national top 5 reciever by his senior year.
We'll have to wait that one out but with the competition he's got for that spot if he doesn't get out of this slump soon, it won't bid well for him at all. I'd like to see him do well though, don't get me wrong.
Have faith. You think Les looked mad after a few calls tonight? I bet noone who plays less than 100% on that field likes to see Les the next day at practice. There's a reason he's still playing... and that reason is he opens our passing game up.
I guess I came across a little harsh here. What I meant was, in Lafell's best interest he should be given opportunities in non-clutch situations. Hence building confidence and preparing him for times when he will be the go-to man. That being said, you've got to get the ball to the hot hands. If that means I get bad rep,so be it.:geauxtige
I know what ya meant... but like i said earlier. I think he'll get it together. Lafell will break out and when he does you heard it here 1st... told ya so. LOL. :thumb:
Well that goes without saying.. I know that's why the staff gets the big bucks to make those decisions. It just seems that if you're gonna try to work the kid's confidence back up, then you don't do it in pressure situations... do it and gradually get him back into the pressure situations. I'm really kinda curious as to what the problem is.. I mean if maybe it's something beyond a slump, but only time will tell.. Hell, sometimes "it" just happens..
