    Would Les leave for Michigan?

Put yourself in his shoes....you are a successful head coach at Michigan, but your LSU Tigers come calling? Would YOU go?

Personally, I woldn't think twice. I think it's a very real possibility in the future. I've warmed to LM and would hate to see him go, but I also wouldn't blame him.

It's hard to use that analogy no matter how suitable it is because we're NOT football coaches--we're fans. Fans have the luxery of being "diehards" where coaches, in a nutshell, are "hired to be fired"....so the bottom line is that a head coach's loyalty lies with the person who's paying him the best, and feels like he's in a stable environment (unless supreme challenge lies ahead of him elsewhere--i.e. Saban to Miami).

And we're missing one very important piece of info: Lloyd Carr isn't exactly struggling at Michigan and he isn't particularly ready to retire to the same community as Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno either.

This conversation IMO is "putting the horse well before the carriage" because as long as Carr keeps going to BCS bowls, he isnt in any danger. Michigan finished with a better recruiting class than OSU this year and while that may not mean much now, the fact that OSU is losing a lot more talent after this season than Michigan leads me to believe that next year's game between Carr and Tressel will be a huge advantage to Michigan who returns most of their skill position players while OSU is losing it's two players that seemingly carried them through '06.

Rich Rodrigues, if for nothing more than to put pressure on WVU to up his salary, even publically thought about leaving his alma mater for 'Bama--even if it was brief and even if he turned them down eventually.

Spurrier left his alma mater and didn't even want to return when they were searching for a coach.

Bottom line is that I realize the possibility of Miles leaving LSU for Michigan is a very real possibiliy, the only thing we can do is reward him for continued top-10 finishes, top 10 recruting classes and BCS bowl games with our support and loyalty.

Sorry to hear you feel that way but that's not an accurate characterization of this forum. I'll first say that, even though you cursed at and called a CONTRIBUTOR- a name yesterday, you weren't banned. Figured since you were new, it was part of the learning process- I made many faux pas too when I first began posting.

I've had an LSU fan I met in another fourm and invited visit here and tell me how much he liked this one in comparison to the other LSU forum he was more active in- even said the "IQ of the board" was impressive- we have some members with a lot of good information about LSU sports.

Had a USC fan tell me he had posted in another LSU forum and people just jumped whatever he posted (He's not a flamer, very well respected on his bd. and posts with facts)...Anyway, he said how surprised he was at the rationale of the Tiger fans who post here- disagree respectfully.

We have Auburn fans who post here who I forget they are not LSU fans.

I feel the same way. Miles might very well stay here, but if he goes to Michigan I can't really fault him for it.

If Les does leave for Michigan when Lloyd retires... I think rather then looking outside for a Head coach, Pellini would get the nod immediately. And I hope the administration has made that abundantly clear to him.

Pellini will be gone next year so that will make it more difficult to bring him in. However, there has been speculation that Carr will retire after this year. If that happens then maybe so. But I am not sold on Carr leaving next year and that Miles would accept the Michigan job but I wouldnt be surprised either.
