I think its mainly a fact that LSU struggled against a team that just got blown out of the water by Boise St. and had to come back to win in overtime, not to mention winning on a missed PAT. I'm not taking anything away from a victory, but in my mind, LSU deserved to drop after winning like that. Frankly, I could care less where LSU is ranked. Being in the Top 5, much less the Top 10, is good enough for me. But I agree with most others that being ranked 1 or 2 will come with its distractions. Let the critics say what they want. We went through all this stuff last year and what happened? We won the NC. I'll gladly put up with more "LSU is overrated" talk or "LSU isn't as good as everyone thinks" talk if it means another NC.
you must have forgotten Carson Palmer recently graduated yet the USuCk fest continued with a huge question mark in Leinart going into last season. So there is a lot of validity to people's observation about media bias....simple fact is....its not going to change anytime soon regardless unless we go undefeated the next couple of years. Media is already saying how UGA simply did what they had to do to win.....then LSU's close game in the slop was due to OSU's kicker. OSU losing badly simply validates their opinions so it works best for us anyhow. No extra hype, no extra publicity for our club to get the big heads. More motivation to have our team ready. oh this is fun.
I am so tired of hearing about this ****. Who cares what the media says and thinks. All we need to do is win freakin football games. CASE CLOSED.
I listen to it, I listen to every word. We should be aware of where the media perceives us outside of our own little cocoon. I think they are correct so far, but they have not taken into consideration that EVERY Saban team EVER has vastly improved as the season progressed, particularly in the first few weeks. In Nick We Trust!
You're exactly correct, and as such, Saban should expect to get everyone's best effort. But that's old news and I'm confident that a coach as experienced as CNS has taken the necessary steps to ward off any possible chance of a catastrophy. :thumb:
This is one of the reasons I like Saban so much. He tends to handle this kind of stuff, while keeping the team focused. Great examples are the SEC CG and the BCS NC, with all the crap going on around the team as far as rankings, respect, high expecations, and the first NC for LSU in the modern college football era . . . Saban handled all of that very well by keeping the team focused. I feel that is what seperates him from most coaches, and something school needed.
LSU will have to win every game ... and they will ... the problem is If an unbeaten LSU drops any more ... :dis: A 1-loss team (USC perhaps) could drop to #4 and still be ranked ahead of us at hold that spot until the end. They're lining up to **** LSU again this year ... the national media hates LSU and won't be happy unless they're little media darlings ... Petie and Norm and Matty and "Rapist MOFO" and the rest of the Bath House gang at the 14-man POT PARTY (we've never heard anything more of ???) ... unless they win it all ... then the media will be happy They've got this East (GA) & West (USC) MIND **** Fantasy going on ... **** 'em ... They need another heaping bowl of "**** STEW" this fall. Auburn is definitely going ****ING DOWN ... Tubby is a ****ING DEAD MAN, and so is his no-talent QB Campbell. Georgia is definitely going ****ING DOWN ... RICHT is a ****ING DEAD MAN, and so is his overhyped no talent QB Greene Florida is going down ... another SWAMP STOMP is coming for them ... No one will stop LSU in 2004 ... no one will even slow LSU down. Undefeated Miami and a 12-0 LSU team ... in the Orange Bowl :geaux:
You don't really believe this do you . . . that if SC loses to one of the many unranked teams on it's schedule that the coaches and media will only drop them 3 spots? That is not realisitic, in fact it's never happened before, so I don't think you need to worry about that. Just tell us the last time a #1 team in the nation lost a game during the regular season to an unranked team and only fell 3 spots in any poll.
Ninety percent of the time a team will drop somewhere into the mix of the teams with the same number of losses. If they were clearly better than the others with one loss they may be put on top of that group, clearly worse and put at the bottom. We can't come close to guessing what scenario's will play out at this time.
