It is good to see light at the end of the tunnel.

You just hit the nail on the head of why it's bad. Government will run it. When have you ever known government to be nearly as efficient as business. Why are UPS and Fedex so successful? Because the government run postal system sucks. On more than one occasion they have lost very important mail boyh incoming and outgoing. Their snswer to every query? Sorry but we can't do anything about it.

Garbage and trash pickup is more reliable since it has been privatized.

No fear dude. Fear is an emotion ... I am strictly a data driven kinda guy.

None of it is doom and gloom, it just is what it is. The issue is not government running things, the issue is third party payers for healthcare and products that should be paid for by the individual. Drug companies can get away with gouging us because of negotiations with insurance companies. Hospitals can get away with raping us because of negotiations with insurance companies. Group discounts and pricing.

An insurance company or single payer system ... doesn’t matter, should determine how much they will pay, no formularies, steps, prior authorizations ..... just a price. The provider determines how much they will charge. The balance between what the payer will pay and what the provider charges will be paid by the patient. If a provider thinks their good or service is worth a thousand bucks, and the insurer thinks it is worth $50, that provider is not going to find many people willing to pay $950 for their product. If a competitor steps in and charges $100 .... insurance is still paying $50, ... patient now has to pay $50 out of pocket. Which product are you going to buy? .... $950 vs $50? ..... you’ll see that $1000 product drop it’s price in a heartbeat, otherwise they will sell nothing and have to close up shop. The only exception is in catastrophic cases, for which insurance was originally created.

He decision falls to the consumer. No discounts, no negotiations, none of it. It’s like you going to buy gas. You pull up and make a decision. Do I want to pay $3 gal for Premium, or $2 gal for regular. You don’t insure your gasoline .... you insure the car.

It's all levels of government. Have you ever spent way too much time at the DMV for something simple like renewing your license or registering a vehicle. Did any of the employees even pretend to act like they gave a shit? Private sector employees have to at least act like they care or they can get in trouble.

In the government sector once you have gone past the probationary period you are set for life no matter how incompetent you are.

I almost became an air traffic controller when I was younger, but I got interested in it during the hiring freeze of the early 90's and was too old to start once they started hiring again. I met an ATC who told me that once you got through the probationary period, about the only things you could do to get fired were show up for work drunk or cause 2 planes to crash into each other.

we have a private health care system but still don't have enough medical supplies to help everyone so I don't know the correlation here. No one has enough shit for this because no one private or govt. wants to stockpile warehouses full of unsold goods.
