So you think Trump created 76 million conservatives who backed him? Or were they like myself were already conservative long long before Trump showed up? Trump might have brought over a few middle of the road voters but that's it. What Trump did do is give us what us conservatives have wanted the Republican Party to do since Reagan. He woke up a lot of silent discouraged voters. You are wrong. As far as kids dying in school that's a straw dog. Kids are least likely to die and this death scenario you present is fear mongering. What's hurting kids is isolating them, forcing them into masks which don't work, scaring them with this virus, making them think there they are evil and racists simply because they are white (CRT) and lastly making them feel there is no future for them because evil conservatives want to destroy the planet and are the cause of climate change which is scientific nonsense. The harm to kids minds by the left is incalculable. I could spend a couple of hours talking about this alone.
Election matter. A state that overwhelming voted for Trump put a liberal in as governor. I am so tainted now I am thinking maybe the democrats stole that elections too.
Teachers in Plano, Texas, go back to school on Wednesday. We keep getting emails about masks not being mandated, but being "highly recommended," so I suppose another year of trying to project my voice through a mask and not being able to smile at my students is around the corner. My high school junior has spent all summer running around with a group of friends. Will they be allowed to hang out at Plano Senior High this fall? My college junior, as of now, finally has all of her classes in person for the first time since the second semester of her freshman year. This is so tiresome. I can retire in 3 years. Will I spend the rest of my career in a mask?
Our Gov passed a law forbidding school districts from doing mask mandates. There is now a teachers union bitching and moaning and wanting the legislature to repeal the law so they can force mask. There is a fight coming!
Texas isn't allowing masks to be mandated in schools, either, but I know it's going to be expected on our campus. Although, we received an email from the district instructing all of the schools to remove any signage about masks being required. I truly, TRULY hate wearing a mask. The upside is that getting ready for school was never easier than last year because I would put on some eye liner, mascara, chapstick, and go to work. Why wear makeup when no one can see your face? Things were actually going along well here all summer, even with our principal gathering us in the gym on the last day of school and "mandating" that we throw our masks into the air. And we're having some huge back-to-school meet-the-teacher event Friday night with burgers and hot dogs. I can't wait to see what mask usage looks like. My daughter's back-to-school event at Plano Senior High is Monday night with food trucks, etc. I hope she can be in the big, non-socially-distant student section at the football games. She's been waiting to be in there for years. So far, UNT is allowing Greek Rush in person. I hope so because my daughter is in charge of Bid Day and has planned the party all summer. I have two huge boxes of Bid Day t-shirts and banners in my living room.
Same for Arkysaw. Called a special session to discuss it today, as we are apparently all dying from Delta.
