In Plano, there isn't a difference. Everything is online, whether in person or remote...exact same assignments and curriculum. Well...for middle school, at any rate.

High school is a bit more problematic because no one is in school 5 days a week since they are in a hybrid model where they can only go to school 2 days a week.

I am no longer teaching, but if I were still, I would teach one lesson. Kids in class and kids at home would get the same stuff. It would be impractical, if not impossible, to have two, simultaneous lessons underway. Oh, the kids in class would be on their computers as well.

Unlike what @StaceyO is doing in her ISD, FISD has two separate curriculums. Virtual students are taught by a 3rd party. In school teachers only teach in person students. Except for electives like orchestra and such. They have to teach both students.

How do they have a band if they can't practice together?

it is marching season for the band so they do practice outside. For my daughter's orchestra, there are not many kids in person so they spread out in the practice room. If they are virtual, they follow live and online and have to submit recordings of their work. So they had their first concert last week. It was stupid. We were in the football stadium stands while the kids were distanced 6 feet apart on the track. It was also like 50 degrees and windy. Sound was horrible. Virtual kids had to play online with the in person kids.

This is what we are doing, except that 3 days a week everyone is asynchronous, whether at home or in school.

The most interesting thing has been how there are ZERO discipline issues at all with this format. I don't have to waste any time on that nonsense.

In Plano, the bands, drill teams, etc. go to practice every day, whether it is their in person day or not. My daughter practices at 7 a.m. 4 days a week, and on the days she's not in school, she comes home for the day.

    They are making it work.

this virus is bullshit I am downtown and I want to have a couple beers and chat with the other drunks at the bars but they force me to get my beer and then run away to lonely town and drink by myself. how am I supposed to chat up the bartender girls or random sluts if I have to drink solo? how am I supposed to watch sportcenter and say funny things to the other drunks at the bar if we are all isolated like weirdos? this is some bullshit

I guess all of the people that were certain Corona would go away after the election are re-evaluating their prognosticating skills!
