While I support their right to protest if they are followers of Tony Spell they are morons. Was Spell passing out any free Kool-Aid?
How many times do you guys need reminding that the shutdown was to slow down the rate of infections and hospitalizations, not to prevent deaths? Slow the spread, flatten the curve. The did this so we wouldn't end up like Italy. NYC almost became Italy because of their foolishness in ignoring it. We had to get the hospital infrastructure ready. Now that is is, we should be opening up. But the media is trying to scare everyone with death counts and distort the message. And the Dem governors are taking advantage of that.
I've been hearing ads that some restaurants are opening their outside patios for service and dining. A couple of hours ago I happened to drive past Fuzzy's Taco and then Zippy's. Fuzzy's had people at tables way closer than 6 feet apart and Zippy's courtyard was packed with people standing almost shoulder to shoulder drinking.
I went to Mexican in Madsonville on Friday night and went to Walk Ons in college station today. I'm getting on with my life. Time to help these places so they can rehire their staff.
Was it enjoyable? I have hesitated going to a restaurant because of some funky restrictions. Lava Cantina is The Colony, for instance, is requiring patrons to request an escort to the restroom because patrons cannot leave their "zones." No, thank you. Last Thursday, we went to a friend's backyard, just six people. It was glorious to sit at a table and just converse over wine and beer. Around 10 o'clock someone knocked on the gate, and our first thought was that we had been "turned in." It was actually a neighbor who wanted to join in. But...our first thought was that a bunch of 50-somethings (I was the baby at 49) were in trouble for drinking in a backyard. I am sick of the insanity.
The Mexican place was all paper but other the the limited seating was ok. Walk ons was pretty much normal except for limited seating. I enjoyed both.
