People in the medical profession are of higher risk than any other line of work. Wishing you luck that you don't have it. I have a dlctors appointment tomorrow where I'll have to sit in the waiting room with sick people and see a doctor who is more likely to have come in contact with an infected person than most people.
Will most definitely keep you in my prayers, @dachsie. That's serious and I hope it turns out that you weren't exposed.
Praying for you @dachsie. I have diabetes as well, and am over 60. My wife interacts with people all day long, so I am concerned about her bringing the damn thing home. With delivery of groceries and meds, I can hunker down here for the duration, but ... Anyway, good luck.
Just as a public service announcement . COVID19- results in a respiratory reaction. Influenza - results in a respiratory reaction Incubation time, meaning you are shedding virus before symptoms COVID19 - average 4-5 days, but could be .... ie, could ... be as long as 14 days. Influenza - average 4 days Complication COVID19 - pneumonia Influenza - pneumonia Highest Risk COVID19 - 70+ years old with complicating health factors Influenza - 70+ years old with complicating health factors Deaths COVID19 - to date all but 1 death occurred in individuals over 70 yrs old Influenza - is known to affect the elderly and infant population. Number of deaths COVID19 - 40 in the US to date. Influenza - 20,000+ In the US to date. Transmission COVID19 - appears to me more easily spread by air, can survive air borne up to 3 hours. Also, is shown to survive on hard surfaces. Influenza - patient to patient. The MOST concerning thing about COVID19 is that we don’t know much about it. By all accounts, it is an illness identical to the Flu, but since we don’t have a vaccine, nor are there any known treatments yet like tamiflu, there is a heightened awareness of COVID19. But really, it is not appearing to be anymore of a burden than the Flu. .... except for the toilet paper thing, which I really don’t get.
