nah. Data from the beginning through this very day suggest 65 older and unhealthy people.

Healthy people, young people and healthy middle-aged people are not dying. Basically, if you are under 55, its about as bad as the flu; maybe a tad worse in some cases. .....

If we let this thing run with no change and those numbers stay true then maybe the economy takes the hit no matter what. I think we were damned if we do and damned if we don't here. But these are feelings, we will never know and its sort of pointless to argue.

Maybe we figure out how to handle this sort of thing better going forward, we will have lots of case studies to look at as we look at how each country, country, state... handled this.

It’s not that I would “scream” about Universal income health, etc. I would politely direct your attention to Sweden, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, UK, etc ..... those socialistic systems have not performed any better, and a case could be made they have performed worse than our crappy expensive system where allegedly nobody has healthcare. So ... you show me how on average, not just cherry picking Canada and Australia, (where other factors have kept numbers low), how socializing the system has helped a pandemic scenario, Ill listen. At the moment, you can’t make that case.

Not screaming, but continuing on my previous thesis, I am inclined to think all those socialized systems, including the ones here in the US are actually part of the problem. They allow people to forgo personal responsibility for their health. They allow you to be obese and just take a pill. No exercise? No problem, we have free healthcare that will write a pill for that. Diabetes? .. eat up those twinkies, in fact have the whole box, we have a pill to help you out.

It’s not fuck you boomer, fuck you fatty, it’s ... hey, if you want to decrease the chances that you’ll die in the next pandemic, how bout get healthy. You can do this!

EDIT ... for your other post .... how to prepare for the future. Fix the potential high risk patients. You can’t win against a new virus. Nutrition, health, vitamins and minerals (particularly Vit D), is all you can do other than stockpile emergency equipment that may or may not be needed for that particular event, and, a defined response network of communication and flow of directives.

There a pros and cons to weigh on both sides I am sure, and its a debate that will need to be had in good faith. Would the spread of such things be helped with paid sick leave for all?

Manufacturing must change from this, the supply chain will be something that will probably change all over the word due to this, too much essential shit is made in China. I think some of the stimulus money might be better spent in tackling this issue.

Basic medical care for all doesn't really solve or have anything to do with personal responsibility of health at this time. Now if you want to talk about taxing fast food or junk food, requiring food manufacturers to be clear about their ingredients\portions and effects their food has on the population then yes that needs to be fixed. There is so much wrong in our food supply chain, and that has everything to do with our health. But its a slippery slop to some sort of social point system. But I would say this is something government can and should tackle.

We don't need big empty hospitals. We need MASH units with all the right equipment on standby so they can quickly be transported and set up where's the hospitals begin to be overwhelmed. I'm not saying tents like in the Korean war or at least on TV but prefab modular units thst can be set up in any size that is needed.

There is a huge convention center in Chicago that hose a major industrial trade show every two years. It is currently used as a hospital and the trade show is supposed to be in September. There is no way it happens, at least I don't see how. It draws visitors from around the world and a lot from China.

There are big conversation centers in every large city. Vegas is full of them.
