You being associated with healthcare (I think), can probably appreciate that the issue is NOT the virus, but rather is the patient. Two people get the virus, same age, 60s, one feels a little flu-ish, the other ends up on a vent. It’s the same virus, but the host are different.

The answer is NOT a vaccine, or even a medicine to knock out corona. The answer is to fix the characteristics about the patients that put them at greater risk. Even if you come up with the knockout treatment for corona, the next pandemic may be a different bug that your new silver bullet doesn’t touch. So, we end up going through the same scenario, with the same unhealthy sector of the population taking the primary hit. In contrast, IF people made the necessary changes in their behavior to eliminate the risk factors, then all we are left with is a virus that causes a mild flu like syndrome.

I know, some people do all the right things, and still develop diseases like diabetes, obesity, etc. But, that is not the norm. It’s mostly people believe they have a “right” to do what ever the hell they want. The virus is showing them, yes you do, and you’ll pay the consequences. So ... drink up, smoke up, eat up, get fat, develop diabetes, heart disease etc, the virus can’t wait to meet you.

I am not ok with this, we should of been ready for this. This entire thing is shit. The lose of freedom scares the shit out of me. But hopefully its temporary, if it is about power. Whose power?

And we might be looking at a much higher death count. This isn't political if it was a true pandemic, now if we find out later that it was man made then I am all aboard the crazy train with you.

Should have been ready? President was being impeached at the tip of it.

Just watch the press conferences and news coverage and you should easily see whose agenda is at work here. Make the people subservient to our overlords.

Who could you possibly do this. I heard yesterday that the cdc believes the virus has been in NYC since at least jan. In all likelihood the majority of us have already been exposed but we have no way to know this at this time.

Once we find Vaccine it should be a seasonal thing. So it is for sure a tool we must continue to seek.

But you are right, another novel virus or super bug is right around the corner. And how do we and the economy handle this next, in that respect I think that is a great conversation to have. It is a problem we must as a society answer. Many of the tools we have to tackle these issues you will scream about. Universal income or paid sick live by all employers. Basic medical care for all...

I agree at some point its survival of the fittest, but we are not there yet. I do not think the solution to these problems is fuck you boomer or fuck you fatty.

That could be a very very good thing, if we find that out. It means we could already have herd immunity and this was overblown.

This should help us deal with this sort of thing going forward however, if we can work together... hah we are fucked

The data is mounting, but to early to make any clear judgement imo. I tend to believe that we did what was right, and we just need to work together to get out of this hole, to prevent the next one from hurting the economy and us more.

Maybe we need big empty hospitals in cities for these sort of situations.

And there will be a point, where I might be on your side of this. Maybe you get to say, see! But it just is too early to make those calls yet.

Yes, all the politicians leading up to this failed us. We were not ready. We need to insist that we are better prepared both as a society and personally going forward.
