Wonder how the government will react to the inevitable second outbreak? My guess is Trump and the governors will start sounding the all-clear in mid-May. People will start to return to their normal routine and cases will spike again. Won't be as bad or as long, because some people will drop right back into self-quarantine, and the med community will be better prepared to nip it in the bud, but its going to happen. Will Congress snap its fingers and throw another 2 trillion at the problem?

I think with the data we have, we could easily keep those 65 and older to stay put through May and identify those with health conditions to do the same. Everyone else, provided you aren't sick, get a mask and go to work...

That would be what I would do, but I already know I am an asshole.

Don’t want to be too optimistic .... but ..... the new cases curve for the US has flattened. No real increase for the last 6 days. Don’t know if this is due to a flattened curve, or if the US has just reached its limit capacity to administer test. If deaths flatten over the next week, I’d say we have whooped this thing.

One could argue that the government would be better off paying you to die than to live? But that is only the economic reality to this thing and it would do nothing to stave the overload on the health care system that would surely kill more as a result. That is the stark reality to this deal in that it really is damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Probably the best case study to this deal is New Zealand where at the earliest onset, shut down their borders, set a period for national lockdown and rode this thing out with minimal impact to everything including the economy. Well so far, that is

Benny is just a fire starter, he always has some sort of goofy thing to say but never really thinks about it first.

So you are willing to die so your great great grandchildren won't be paying that debt? In the meantime anything could happen.. Wars, an even worse pandemic, a socialist gets elected and spends the money anyway.

Are your parents still living? Would you be OK with the government spending $66 billion to keep them alive. If they could bring my mother and dad back I say spend it in a heartbeat.

Or would you rather have a death panel deciding who is worthy of living?

Think of $4 trillion towards cancer research. Cancer has claimed over 150k so far this year.
