this data says Texas is doing ok. We have an overall shortage nationwide but it depends on where you live and where hotspots pop up. Everyone needs a ventilator or two. Texas was slow to catch the virus and our actions, despite some bitching about them, were necessary as to not develop a major outbreak.
According to John Hopkins we have 12,000 to 60,000 deaths a year from the flu. We have 11,000 to date from coronavirus. This being with all of the social distancing and shelter in place regulations that have been in effect. Wonder what it would be if we just treated this like the flu?
Maybe he should. And everyone that went to that party needs to be put on a list of people that will do dumb shit that might get themselves and others infected.
It would have been a worse flu season and probably not many people batting an eye. I would imagine they just lumped it in with the flu. They were already on pace to have over 50K flu deaths this year.... Last year, Louisiana had over 1,500 flu deaths. We are in April and have 512 COVID deaths. I posted an article/report last week about how doctors are counting COVID deaths.....
Absolutely he should, and well stated. Everyone there doesn't really have anything to stand on though, they went to said party. So really they took on the risk themselves, so he might get off if a DA charges him.
I agree with people staying in, but not everyone. It should be based on age and health rating as this is what the data has told us. Keeping everyone inside is not a good solution in my opinion based on the negatives that are going to be felt for many months to come.
Focusing only on deaths ignores the real impact of the virus. Flu does not require a fraction of the hospitalization, ICU beds or ventilators that Coronavirus does. Flu is only 1/3 to 1/2 as transmissible as CV-19. Flu has only about a tenth the mortality rate. Coronavirus is a big problem because it’s overwhelming hospitals, doctors, nurses and the whole healthcare system. if you continue to ignore the impact you’re not helping the discussion but suppressing it.
If we can ever get to "a happy place" with testing that is exactly what will happen Just back from Food Run, deliver to car, put in the back. A lot more masks than last week. But . . . the parking lots at Lowes and Wallys were jam packed.
I agree in general. However we need to find out who has had the virus and recovered, who’s been exposed but not shown signs and so much more before an effective set of data. Until then we’re just guessing which given the transmissibility will just keep the fire hot.
