Come on Shane you know better. There is much to be said for individual initiative and responsibility. It is a basic element of our country’s success. However in out of the box events like a Katrina or 9/11 or this we do have to rely on government to step in and take a measure of control. The Cajun navy is great for immediate rescue but do they keep order or rebuild? No that’s the government it’s job as defined by the preamble to the constitution. This like Katrina and 9/11 is an out of the box event. President Trump recognizes it why can’t you?
Trump started poorly as I’ve shown. However he’s stepped up recently and been a real leader so I’m supporting his efforts. Now if like @shane0911 and others who have military experience you do an AAR After Action Report where you unemotionally and objectively look at what happened....NOT TO FIX BLAME but to learn, correct and prepare if possible. Let the chips fall as they may. That’s what I’ll support. What happens in other places is on the periphery and may be interesting and helpful but using them as an excuse or as an example of whataboutism is no help.
One more point. Yesterday President Trump admitted the impeachment efforts probably distracted him. I think that accurate and it shows he’s stepping up and taking responsibility. I admit it I think he’s done impeachable thing though thought the democrat effort wrong and foolish at the time. That said the democrats share responsibility for the delayed response.
did you actually read @onceanlsufan post? I did. Now, I don't know this person so am going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't actually mean some of the things that he said but in his remarks he advocates for several things that are authoritarian in nature and it's not debatable...let's review: Why in the world would you ever advocate for keeping critical information like infections from the public? And ordering state and local governments to stop publishing the information? In what way do we ever want to look at China as a model for free speech, lastly? That's authoritarian as hell and has no place in a free society my friend. As i said, I will give our friend the benefit of the doubt because I'd like to give him a chance to clarify if he wants but those words as they are written are authoritarian. Why does this chap you so bad?
"Mr. President, what would you say right now to Americans who are scared?" How in the hell is that about a statement he made long ago? And asking him questions about his statements earlier regarding the virus are totally legit. Words matter. Trump spent a few weeks downplaying this thing and spouting off like he does and now he doesn't want to be responsible for them and that's not the way it works. Like I said, if this were Obama you'd be standing on your head by now. And I bring up Obama because he was the last President. Who else should I compare him to? Mr. Rogers?
You just can't help yourself. So he is impeached by a bunch of sore losers with absolutely zero evidence of any crime being committed and somehow that is his fault. WOW!
I thought I was pretty straight forward. I just got done breaking this down for Pride how I thought your comments were authoritarian in nature so I'll spare you the repeat. I also left room for you to clarify your remarks and even gave you the benefit of the doubt about your comments. This is true but turning off the TV and getting away from that kind of information is on the individual...not the media. It is the medias job to report it. See what I mean? Person no like TV...person turn off TV...person don't blame media. I do not disagree but the media sensationalizes things on both sides. FOX sensationalizes things just as much as the others. Everything is BREAKING NEWS. I don't like that either because it desensitizes people to actual breaking news but this isn't new and it is done on both sides. If you don't believe me go look at how differently they each slant their article titles. Well my friend, this says more about you than anything the media is doing. Correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you are saying that you cannot break away from watching the data and you want the media to stop reporting it so you can do something else. Is that right? Because if it is you can just get up and go outside and do whatever you want. You don't have to watch it. I'll take you at your word. That said, China is not our paradigm of hope when it comes to Freedom of Speech and your referencing them, observational or not, at the very least made your statement appear as though you were offering their methods as an alternative.
If I recall correctly even the Bible said that the "church" are the people, not the building. If worship truly is their goal then why not worship from home and use technology to lead worship services like every other church in the country is doing right now?
this is completely different than assembling several hundred people. if your guidelines are 10 or less it doesn't really matter what you call it...church, concert, gaggle...it's still within the guidelines.
