How can you know they aren't hurting anybody else? If they get exposed from contact with a church member everybody else they come in contact with is at risk. They can't use the fact that they don't have online services as an excuse. This 2020. Their preacher man could be screaming his fire and brimstone via live streaming on YouTube or Facebook in the next 5 minutes Their God doesn't care if the show up on Sunday at the Luckenbach First Assembly of Holy Rollers and Rattlesnake Handlers or not. He didn't care about the millions who have died in wars. He didn't care about the genocide of the Jews. He didn't care about the starving children of 3rd world shitholes. He especially doesn't care about idiots too stupid to protect themselves and their fellow innocent non worshiping community members. Maybe it's his way of making sure they don't breed any more of their own kind. Oh, an el. People get you mixed up with Shane because your avatars look similar at first glance. I do it all the time myself.
It just spreads slower in rural areas become the people come into contact with fewer people than in the cities. Spreads slower but still spreads.
I dont, but it's not about me, they have a choice to attend or not. No one is required to attend. Not your decision, this country was founded in large part on the premise that people have the right to believe they way they want. That's surprising all they share is a similar color.
My archdiocese (Houma-Thibodaux) suspended masses a little over 3 weeks ago. That day my pastor called me, asking for my help to set up a Facebook page and to show him how to do live feeds. He's said daily mass and led a daily rosary since then, using his iPhone on Facebook. You're right, its 2020. If you (priest/minister/etc) don't know how to do this, get a member of your congregation to teach you. Its not difficult, but it is potentially life-saving.
It comes down to freedom. People know the risk. Let them do their thing. To set a standard that risk of spreading a virus or infection is enough justification for the government to dictate to me what I am allowed to do is NOT ok in my book.
What I'd like to see happen is for everybody, every single American, to abide by the recommended behaviors we're getting from our governors and from the president. But a few weeks ago, someone offered a quote from the movie Men In Black that fits the times, and I'm reminded of it almost every day:"A person is smart. People are stupid." So I get what you're saying about freedom and the risks of giving it up for a time. But what happens is, by arguing for freedom above all, you are also leaving the well-being of the country in the hands of the lowest common denominator, i.e.; the stupid, the arrogant, the uncaring. If they won't do what's necessary, this is not going to be checked, and they're the ones who will force the government's hand and turn all this from recommended to mandatory.
Ill leave this right here.... Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Name a time we have given up freedom to government and given it back? With the pending economic collapse, it is going to spurn a social change that will take even more from us in the name of "protecting us next time".... As they say, the tree if liberty needs to be watered form time to time.
It all comes down to accountability! You keep your freedom, but you are held accountable for your actions. In times of uncertainty, people must be held accountable for making stupid decisions. If you have a cold, fever, etc, and waltz off into a nursing home resulting in multiple deaths due to COVID19 , you must be held accountable. Same would apply to the facility for letting you in. It’s no different from people with HIV who are prosecuted and found guilty for purposely spreading HIV to unsuspecting individuals. We know how people are, pump up the sick kid with Advil and send them to school.
