    this is my thing:

if he wins a nc and leaves, are people really gonna hate him??

miles' original press conf. was to re focus everyone on the sec title game. that happened and they won.

when LSU fast tracked an extension (if he's truly staying) of course he'd sign it. but even if you're planning on leaving, i'd still sign it. if you don't then it looks like you're leaving and all that speculation would continue into the nc game. possibly causing your team to lose.

basically, if miles is lying right now, he's doing it for the good of the team and the fans so we can get a :crystal: back in baton rouge.

i hope he stays, but if he leaves i would strongly disagree with anyone who compares him to saban or petrino.

Here in Ohio we keep hearing that Mile's hasn't actually signed the extension he was offered yet. Does anyone here know if he has signed the extension yet?

First let me say that I am not trying to disagree with everything you say today, but with that said I kinda disagree.

First the original poster said the media would crucify him and that WOULD happen! On the other side of that though is they already are so that point is almost mute.

Secondly the fans I think would be split on how they felt, simiular to saban. But on the other side of this the fans have been split about him here for a good part of his career. So that point becomes close to mute also.

So while I disagree with you I think both sides point to no matter what he chooses it doesn't have much to do with the media or the fans think. Either way he goes the outcome is the same, the media still thinks he is a liar and the fans are split about their feelings for him.

The reality is Miles and any coach can do what ever they want to. It comes down to character. I don't think Miles is going to Michigan because he has too much invested in his players at LSU and he does not want to go back on his word. I'm sure he has looked for reasons to leave and can't find any. He obviously loves Michigan. As we know love can be blind. I pity anyone going into Michigan with all the crazy people who seem to be running things there. Why would he want to go there and fight Lloyd Carr? Let Lloyd Carr get what he wants. I expect he feels the timing is not right. Let them hire another coach and what it blow up and heads roll. Then if they come back in about 4 or 5 years he may take it then. From what I can see the Michigan job is a lose/lose proposition. Unless of course CLM blindly loves Michigan.

    I think three things.

    1. There is obviously something "they" know that we don't. There are to many competeing media outlets that have at one time or another continued to say Miles to Michigan.

    2. Because of what happened to Herbie, no one is being to blunt about it.

    3. There has to be enough info coming from both sides, (going and staying), because we would have heard what they know if it was very solid.

What does all this mean? Hell if I know.

Personally, I think ESPN has become so cocky with their position in college football, i.e. they are close to being in complete control, that they're trying to hedge their bets by continuing to say he is going so that if he does, they can say "We told you so all along." Then on the other side of the fence, if he doesn't go, they can simply say that there was a time he was gone and LSU continued to make last minute attempts to keep him. So either way, it's win-win for ESPN. It's quite disgusting, if you think about.

    It's "moot". :thumb:

Damnit! I thought it was moot but wasn't sure and asked 3 people around me and they all said it was mute! Freaking penn state fans!

But I agree about espn but because of that it makes my point that it doesn't matter what he does they are going to label him a liar! So the media problem is moot!!! :)

Lol! I just yelled at the one penn state fan and he was like well that's a siuthern term I didn't know! Whatever...

well i realize now that this thread is more about the press than the fans but i was talking about the fans.

as far as the press goes they're going to crucify him b/c his fired up pc was directed at espn. and how dare anyone question anything a or talking head head ever says true or false :rolleye33: (that's directed at the press, not you ot)

i have no doubt that the fans would be split over this but i think people here are too hung up on miles' "word" and not realizing that if he is lying he's doing it so his team will be focused on a nc and not worrying if their coach is staying or not.

ok and as i'm typing this a friend is texxting me rodriguez to michigan. per the morgantown newspaper, so non e of this matters now.
