It will be back and you are fooling yourself if you think the democrats aren't for open borders like bush is.
They voted it down for one reason only and that was the out cry from the American people.
Both sides are now sold out to special interest that is why I started the thread that went nowhere on government reform.
I acknowledge that both sides of the aisle are a problem.

The chief architects of all the immigration bills in this country is Ted Kennedy of all people.
The Republicans are just stupid not to stand up to this bad policy.
Most of these new voters will become democrats after a while when they learn to milk the system for everything they can get from the democrats.

If they voted it down because of constituent complaints then they did what was right. It is that simple.

It was a bipartisan bill. Both of the Republican Senators from Arizona were sponsors. Several other Republicans were co-sponsors. The Republicans not only did not stand up to it, they helped creat it and endorsed it.

Btw I don't consider Mavericks or those that are a Republican in name only to be republican.
Keep in mind it is what I believe and not necessarily anyone else.
John McCain for instance is responsible for the McCain Feingold bill which forbids someones right for free speach at a certain time during an election.
I am also talking about those republican voters who vote more times than not with the Democrats.
They might as well be Democrats and not Republicans.

As much as I admit that we have serious issues with Republicans in this country the democrats, liberals are much worse.
You have Trent Lott and I believe Diane Feinstein calling for talk radio to be sensored and the fairness doctrine.
I think the two parties are becoming united in some areas and that is scary for the future of the country.
Another example is both sides cater to special interest and somewhat ignore those who elected them.
The Republicans were a total disaster while in charge of DC, there were no conservatives to be found.
Should this country survive if the dems take over again the roles will reverse once more.

Like it or not this is my opinion.
