You're welcome. I do find it interesting that everyone around here seems to be more interested in our HC situation than this game. It completely overshadowed everything with LSU both before and after the game. Saban normally has his teams focuesed. Don't know how focused they were today. Didn't look very focused in the first half. I was sure LSU would beat Iowa. Maybe it was cockiness, but I was wrong. You can't just walk out there and win. It takes more than that. I am sure you guys found our drama to be laughable and didn't focus on it at all. That's good for you guys. Looks like y'all left it all out on the field and pulled it off. Congrats. Now I am glad this season is over. It's been tough, especially with our QB situation. I guess it is either Jamarcus or Perilloux if we can land him.
Thanks Guys... In my experience on this board over the past month or so, I've come to find that LSU fans are among the best in the country. 98% of your fans conduct themselves with class, and it's been a pleasure to talk football and anything else with you guys. A great game today. I can understand why you guys were very confident about a win going in, and I hope you can see why we sing the praises of Drew Tate and Matt Roth. Unbelieveable finish...and this is no exaggeration...I nearly passed out after the last play. Just unreal. Anyways, I just wanted to congratulate LSU fans on being class individuals, having a great program, and a bright future. From now on...unless we meet again on the gridiron...I'll be cheering for the Bayou Bengals. Geaux Tigers!!
Hawkeyes executed for 60 minites, we didn't we made mistakes we've been making all year that's what was frustrating Remember they got to beat the defending BCS national champ also the assistant coaches haven't known for a week if they'll have a job or not. It definitely affect our intensity
This is what it's all about and exactly why college football is so very special. It's been a pleasure...
I just got home from the game. What a finish! Congrats to Iowa & their fans. You guys are all class. Heartbreaking loss for us. I felt there was a lack of attention to detail in the game plan and management. We are loaded for next year. I hope Skip makes the right choice!
Great game Now you see why fisher and jimbo were canidates, both got outcoached today and so did saban. Although the final play was either blown coverage or the wrong assignments. I said in my first post on the game in a forum a week ago. I stated if we did not bring or A game iowa is a excellent team. But the overall talent pool of both universties isnt close. Lsu is in facted stocked for next year. Next year is crucial in recruiting or its not gonna be nice. Our next coach has to do exactly like saban did. He basically closed down la in terms of recruiting, and stole quite a few out of towners. Sabans best attribute was finding exceptional atheletes with character aka. Josh Reed,Michael clayton, Lalvalais, marcus spears from LA. All of which were hustlers. always wanted to get better. They would all speak highly of saban. I thank coaches and especially our seniors for another ride. Its been fun . We will be better next year I dont doubt that. See ya kickoff 2005. Welcome to our future coach, thank you to coach saban and his family for their contributions to our beloved University. But most of all our football team. It was fun.See ya kickoff 2005. Whens the first pitch til are next national championship? Git r done. Everything else is tigerbait.
:lsug: Thank you for the nice comments. We LOVE our football as do you. It is apparent. Iowa deserved to win today. LSU was out-classed and out-coached. There were too many games this year when LSU pulled the game out their rear at the last minute to win a sloppy played game. Our guys have the heart to want to win it just doesn’t happen all the time. Hey no one is perfect and if they were it sure would be a boring world. Thanks for the great game! Hope that we get the opportunity to play again. Good luck in 2005 football I will root for Iowa in future games. It is nice to hear from an Iowa fan. Thanks! Heather ldskule:
we blew it Today just was a big let down in my eyes, the team played horrible the coaches didnt look like they wanted to be there, and their was no emotion in our team for the first three quarters of the game. What was the problem?:angryfire Someone tell me. Im going to miss Saban just as much as everyone else but the way it looked like to me was that, him leaving was a big part in why our team played the way they did, and that just cant happen in a big bowl game. All we can do now is look forward to next years season and see what the new year brings!:hihi:
was flynn in because saban recruited him and then redshirted him and sat the bench but wanted to give him a shot since it was his last game? execution was very poor in this game and what was with the fake field goal? i find it fitting that most of the mental errors were in the secondary which is where saban works hands on with the players. iowa just seemed better prepared at every aspect of the game, lsu just stayed close on thier talent.
Congratulations, Hawkeyes. Well done. A couple of comments: 1) I think the "Comeback" nature of this team hurt us all season. It was clear early in the OSU game that the team had not prepared during the offseason as they had in 2003. But the comeback there convinced them that they were a "team of destiny", a team with "heart" instead of one that was dominant from the first play to the last. That's what the 2003 team had that was missed this year. 2003 was a special year that made me think "I've never seen LSU do this" several times. That air wasn't there this season and the fact that this team won 9 games is amazing. 2) The fake FG was mis-executed, not a bad call. Had the end blocker, Hester I believe, had pushed forward into his man, it would have worked. Instead, he stood there and let Flynn run into him, forcing the play back into the middle for the stop. Just another close call that cost these Tigers. Anyway, Congrats Hawks, and as always, GEAUX TIGERS
