Can you not see that the current offensive regression/stagnation that has lasted year upon year will result in an unavoidable decline of LSU's football program? It's a slow and steady decline that will pick up in speed. Deny it all you want. I wish it weren't true. For all those that continue to spew the notion that Les Miles just couldn't be that inadequate because he makes four million a year, may I remind you all that George W. Bush resided in the oval office for eight years. This is NOT an espousal of political viewpoints, just out a tossing out of their similarities.
There are program runners like a bobby Bowden and Mac brown. Les is one but wants to be an oc. It's cute you think les is an xs and os coach and keeps his football genius under wraps. He's more of a dale brown type. Both types can succeed if they realize who they are. Les is successful almost in spite of himself. If he would get out of the way it would be even better. Even most of the apologists can see this. Lsu is a top tier team but could be beating down Bama yearly if les would let an outsider develop his offense. Pretty soon this ship is going to sail and our opportunities will have been lost. It's nice but clearly could be much better with one subtle change in philosophy. Unfortunately it's going to be low scoring and praying the defense and special, teams win it for us. Even muschamp figured us out and he's terrible. But as I predicted our defense scores once and sets up another: Hats 23 Visors 19
As usual (and this pisses me off), I can't argue with anything you just said. I think you'd have made a good lawyer.
Eliminator, You are a skilled wordsmith and a capable debator, and as an English major, I can appreciate that. However, I cannot agree with your assessment that there has been no change in the offense. When we had Crowton, the offense was sometimes too cute, getting in its own way more often than not. When the production started to consistently tank, Miles dumped him and hired Kragthorpe, which would have been great if not for his unfortunate turn of health. Stud was an emergency promotion out of sheer necessity, and due to the sheer experience and talent on the field, his offense, completely different in style than Crowton's, scored tons of points last year in spite of the two-headed dumpster fire that Crowton left behind at quarterback. Because of that, I was not surprised to see him come back this year as OC, but he frankly doesn't have the talent and experience on that side of the ball anymore. That would be fine for a real OC, because the scheme would change to match the inferior personnel, but Stud is not a real OC, and his scheme won't work with what we have. The playcalling is limited this year for two reasons - 1) Stud doesn't know what to do if he can't run the other team over, and 2) the players are simply not that good. Miles is not directly responsible for either of those handicaps. I believe, from a development standpoint, our receivers are reeling from the turnaround at WR coach and sub-par recruiting, and the OL is suffering from their coach being in way over his head and unexpected injuries.
Bullcrap. Your hate for Les is apparent. You take the same message from thread to thread. We get it, OK. Please stop derailing every thread with anti-Les Miles diatribes. Remember SIU.
No, I don't remember SIU. In all seriousness please elaborate? I recall a fellow forum member making reference to my past conversations with SIU. Other than that, nothing comes to mind.
