' I see now your changing your tune!:rolleye33: Edit:btw why don't you make your point instead of accusing me of ripping the tigers. Yes, its a win but I must be a liar when I say this team has played inconsistent. Obviously this team didn't play any different yesterday between the first and second quarters and we didn't watch the same game.
Flynn, while a 5th year sr., is a first year starter. I think that's where his inconsistency comes from. His judgement has not been formed in the white hot cauldrons of battle over the years. He should have thrown the ball away a couple more times. He'll get better, this can be fixed, and I hope to see him play on Sundays in the future. He's not a perfect QB, I just want to see him lead us to the SEC championship.
Goes to show you that when fans jump the gun on a quarterback, that most of the time they just prove that they don't know everything. When JaMarcus was here and winning games, fans came out in droves to call for Matt Flynn because Flynn, in their eyes, was the "cerebral QB incapable of making bone-headed throws" and "Flynn is smart enough to not force things but throw the ball away when he needed." Well, fastforward back to the present and Flynn is having the same mental mistakes as JaMarcus was having. Both JaMarcus and Flynn are very good, very athletic QB's and I'm proud to call them Tigers but I believe our best QB over the past decade--possibly past 2 decades has been Matt Mauck...and NOT because he's the only LSU QB since '58 to be on a national championship team. ...then again, maybe it's unfair to Flynn to compare him to JaMarcus and Mauck because JR and Mauck had GREAT WR DUOS to throw the ball to while Flynn had to play more than half of the season without our best WR this season.
You are arguing with me. Why don't you make your point instead of accusing me of ripping the tigers. Yes, its a win but I must be a liar when I say this team has played inconsistent. Obviously this team didn't play any different yesterday between the first and second quarters and we didn't watch the same game. Or maybe you like sloppy football? A win is a win but in college you could lose if you play sloppy and an Oregon or Kansas isn't. Obviously pro football is just about winning but college isn't always because the system is different. Its not worth arguing over really, this is ridiculous. Sorry if I pissed on your parade and you single me out. Why don't you single out other posters who you would call ripping the tigers? I've said nothing here that isn't the truth, inconsistent and stupid play will hurt us one way or the other if not corrected. Obviously our opinions are different here. One more thing, I didn't start any of these stupid threads. In this one a poster wanted to blame Flynn for all of his mistakes and I pointed out like others that this is Flynn's first year as a starter. I also pointed out that the team around him has played inconsistant and made stupid mistakes.
He had thrown the ball away in the past many times when the play wasn't there. As Gary Crowton had alluded to, he tried to do a bit too much and that's when he got burnt. This is all part of the learning process, and I am sure he will learn fast. I agree some of the forced plays were due to this. Stewart seemed to be beaten out by fast defensive ends.
Is this the same Jamarcus Russell who led the SEC and ranked 3rd in the NCAA's in passing efficiency? The same Jamarcus Russell who completed 67% of his passes last year with 28 TD's and only 8 Ints? Flynn's had what, two good games his entire career? I fail to see the comparison. Russell made the risky throws because he could. His arm strength was second to none and in that ability comes a belief that no pass is impossible. Many of the NFL greats have this same 'fault'. Flynn does not have this same gift, but it does not prevent him from attempting the same throws. He will be a good QB if he simply learns to play within his abilities. Until then, he is a liability as he has proven to be so far this season, save the Auburn game.
