That's part of the "Easy Streets" program to reduce traffic congestion on campus during the weekdays.

Those gates are only closed Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm.

Gas generators were banned in the past. This is a step up.

I think they are giving tailgators a break on the rules.

So which provisions are "nanny state"? The ones that tell you not to steal the school's electricity? The ones that tell you not to steal other people's seating area? Or the ones that tell you not to dirty up other people's air?

yeah, i actually looked it up. looks like they're cracking down more on use of electrical outlets and in turn are being a little easier on the generator use. this is a good thing. wow, a decision made that's fan friendly, i should make a note of this day.

our tailgate was shut down alot in '03 and '04 with having the generator, but in most cases we'd just flip it back on when the cops left. the last two years haven't been that bad but it's always a worry. but we've also gotten a quieter one these past two years.

Skip Bertman said that generators were going to be banned because of the noise and fumes, but that some new smaller, quieter, and low-emission four-stroke generators were causing them to rethink it.

I think that there will soon be a ban on generators that don't meet certain noise limitations. The AD is probably waiting on the industry to agree on a low-impact generator standard before banning large generators.

Generators were always banned in the past. Regardless of noise. Last year for the opening game a cop told us to turn ours off. We asked why and he said they were not allowed on campus. It was news to us, but it was true because I checked lsusports.net the next day. They never told us anything after that so I'm guessing they just try to enforce it early on in the season. Now it looks like they aren't going to even bother. :thumb:

That's news to me. I guess my tailgate has been breaking the rules for the past couple of years.

I think it's news to a lot of people because it wasn't heavily enforced. Here is the rule from last years fan guide.

I wonder how much one of those 4-stroke Honda rigs goes for- a small one, just for a TV. and a few other things?
