it requires catching. they in fact took plays away from shep due to his poor effort last night and ran peterson instead on an end around and shovel pass. to a tight end. less plays for shep not more. until he proves otherwise, this is how it should be. more for obj who catches everything.
Look at his high school videos. All of those long TD runs he had was from the quarterback position, mostly on qb draws. I'd love to see him get about 5 or more snaps a game from the backfield, whether he gets the ball or not. I think he'd drop the ball on punt returns, but kickoff returns may be an option.
So now the teams in his high school's classification are equivalent to SEC-caliber defenses??? C'mon, now. What ANY of these players did in HIGH SCHOOL does NOT automatically equate to the same success in the toughest collegiate football conference in America.
Well, that play broke Bama's back last year. It would have worked this year but Lee whiffed the block on that quick end. The Shepard reverse is coming. Not in his first game back. Shepard will be back.
Geez! "Shep" said 10 times in 14 sentences. That's gotta be a record. But on a serious note, he's not worth a significant gameplanning change right now, IMO.
It was obvious watching that game the the passes to Shep were thrown low quite a bit and I didn't see any passes thrown to the other receivers low like that.. There were three really low passes which would be hard fir any receiver. Maybe a lot has to do with timing and his position which should be worked out as the season moves forward.. And the reverse to Peterson was a design play fir him and not Shep since it's been run before..
