If I recall, it was the only time the rule was invoked EVER. They got rid of the rule after that season as well.

Bad calls are part of the game, just like injuries and rain. Nobody likes it but everybody has to deal with it at some point.

LSU had the ball and a chance to win on the last drive and there were no bad calls, just good Auburn defense.

They are part of the game in the sense that they are inevitable. That's not to be confused with players making bad plays and coaches coaching poorly or bad weather. These things are supposed to be part of the struggle because they are nearly all within the control of the players. Weather is not but being able to win in a variety of elements is also meant to be part of the game, else we could easily postpone them. An impartial observer has no desire to rid the game of those things. The game is supposed to be a test of players and coaches, not the officials.

If you could press a button and eliminate all mistakes by players, would you? Of course not. If you could push a button and eliminate all mistakes by refs, would you?

Absolutely. You can tell a game has been well officiated when the officiating never enters the post game discussion. Part of the game, but not affecting the outcome. No one with any understanding of football could have watched today and not come away feeling the refs had a huge effect on the outcome. Not to disrespect Auburn; the game could have been called properly and they may have won. We'll never know. LSU is now 2-0 and had one stolen.

I rarely, if ever, blame a loss on the officiating. Tonight, I formally change my tune. That was the worst sh it I have ever seen. The 3-5 bad calls/no calls, combined with the poor use of instant replay by the review crew just sends me over the edge on this one. I usually get angry right after a game and cool down. This time, it is the reverse. I have become progressively more angry as we have gotten through the night, and no, I am not drinking, at least not yet. (Maybe that is my problem. ;) )

**** these refs, they suck! They cost us the game. This game was otherwise a defensive masterpiece by both teams. Seriously.

I can tell you this. Officials will make some mistakes thats true. But it is their job, after all, not to. The are paid to make good and impartial judgements. If I walk into my plant and make that many mistakes in a day I will be looking for another job. So to say we just have to accept bad calls as a part of the game is rediculous. We have to live with what is done but there is no reason why these refs shouldn't be repremanded for their actions. The pass interf. and no pass interf calls are very similar both however went AU's way. The replay call was unexplainable. The holding call. and on and on. I have to quit.....I may have a stroke

I was at the game so I didn't get to see all these so-called bad calls, but I think there were some bad calls both ways. There are always bad calls in a game. Hell, did yall see the oklahoma game? I don't think that officiating decided our game, but I'll watch the replay tomorrow and see for myself. But either way, these are two great teams and neither team really deserved to lose. Still a lot of football to be played this season also.

Let me get this straight. You admit you didn't see the calls, then you say that there were bad calls on both sides, and then you site the OU game as evidence of your assertion, a game which was going on at the same time as our game (were you watching the OU game on a little TV while at the stadium today ;) )?

    WOW

I vote that we start reviewing judgement calls. If the officials can overturn a judgement call onfield, why can't officials in the booth that can actually REPLAY the play not be allowed to overturn a judgement call?

AU has one hell of a team. Loosing to you guys is not what is killing me, it is how the game was facillitated. Without the crap Auburn may have still taken the game. Just as when Georgia routed us, I would be able to accept that the better team just won. This is just a tough pill to swallow.
