If the claims are a joke, there is no fight thus it doesn't matter.

Most of those accusations wouldn't even be taken to court by any competent lawyer.

Learn up on some law, CP.

Not everything is the way it appears on Law & Order

Most of the claims are a complete joke, some of them have enough basis that it could go somewhere. Maybe just preliminaries, maybe to court. At any rate, the owner of onepete.com would incur some expense to fight this, even if it's quite small because the claims are meritless.

If there were a claim, do you think the fans would/should help him out with the legal costs?

That'd be their choice... He could certainly start accepting more donations to help with that if he felt it necessary, and I'm sure he could get some, but I wouldn't think it would be too much.

And if the suit were filed in California, I doubt there are many LSU alum lawyers there, being that Louisiana's legal code is rather different. So finding one to do probono work could be tough. A UCLA or Texas fan wouldn't be out of the question though...

Even if a lawyer could come up with some legal basis for bringing a lawsuit, there are no damages, thus, nothing to recover. No lawyer will take a case like that unless the plaintiffs want to pay for his time. In L.A. that's about $450/hr.

Surely a USC alum is willing to waste a few hours on it.

I never doubt a lawyer's ability to find damages that could be awarded.

When you bill at $450/hr, you don't waste time. The only way anyone recovers is if the billboard falls on them.

Until money gets involved, is the stipulation.

Don't think for one minute if a lawsuit is brought that it wouldn't be heard. We're talking about the "Left Coast," the land of fruits and nuts, and the same court system that wants to keep kids from saying the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools.

So, yes there is free speech - but only if supports a certain leftist agenda like liberalism, socialism and communism. We're free if you consider socialism free.
