Not quite as bad, but yes they've lost their identity. McCain appears to honestly want to cut spending, which is what ultimately pushed me towards him.
I also think healthcare is a right. I see in no way that that is a socialistic thought. Just a general take care of your own thought. We are providing more health care for the iraqis than the americans right now, I just don't see how that is a good idea.
Essentially, anytime the government provides something to the collective whole unevenly from those who they take the money from those they give the services to - it is socialistic. That being said, these are not entirely bad. Free education is a great thing for our country. I would also not be against a basic level of health services provided for free. Basic being the key word.
I was just about to come add to that post using the american education system as my analogy. I think it's a great point, and I agree with you completely.
He is not a dove? You do realize that Pakistan has given the US permission to fly air sorties over Pakistan and has allowed some of our troops to move into Pakistan? Hate to tell you this, but either Obama is totally out of touch or he is a flaming liar! Which is it:huh: Maybe we can ask Louis Farrakhan who has now proclaimed Obama as the Messiah...:insane:
You do realize that no one is turned away from trauma centers in this country for lack of the ability to pay? And that most community health centers have free check ups and screenings available. Who exactly do you think already ends up paying for the folks who have no insurance and no funds? And then there is Medicaid available for just about any child who qualifies for free lunches at school and food stamps at home. Cry me a river, if the government isn't already providing medical services to everyone in some fashion. But the big difference will be in the ways in which health care providers will and won't be allowed to operate. That is the real scary part!
We already provide a basic level of health services in the country. What most people are harping about is a much more comprehensive guarantee of health care well beyond any reasonable definition of "basic". I've asked this multiple times and noone has attempted to tackle it. Should the average tax payer pay for a lifelong smoker's lung cancer treatments or cardiology bills for a morbidly obese person? Is that basic healthcare? And those aren't even the toughest questions.
Not as bad? Where have you been for 8 years The republicans have ruled over the worst war and the worst economic crisis in living memory. They've lost more than their identity, they've lost all credibility. He voted with Bush time and again and more than doubled our National Debt. It took over 230 years to amass a 5 trillion dollar debt. The republicans doubled it in 8. McCain is proposing more new spending, you know. Both candidates are irresponsibly cutting taxes when we need all of the income we can get to keep the country from going bankrupt. You and I must balance our budgets or we are irresponsible. Business must post profits to stay in business. State have to pass balanced budgets. Why do we have this notion that the rules don't apply to the US government. It's just politicians trying to get themselves elected. They do not have the best interests of the nation in mind.
“We cannot afford to be a country of isolationists right now. 9/11 showed us that try as we might to ignore the rest of the world, our enemies will no longer ignore us. And so we need to maintain a strong foreign policy, relentless in pursuing our enemies and hopeful in promoting our values around the world.” -- Barack Obama “After Iraq, we may be tempted to turn inward. That would be a mistake. The American moment is not over, but it must be seized anew. We must bring the war to a responsible end and then renew our leadership — military, diplomatic, moral — to confront new threats and capitalize on new opportunities.” -- Barack Obama The St. Pete for Peace organization doesn't think Obama is a Peace candidate. "The presidential debate on Friday night confirmed our previous statements about Barack Obama - he is not an antiwar candidate. St. Pete for Peace, in the strongest terms, condemns Obama's positions on Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Venezuela, and Iraq, among others. Like John McCain, Obama is pro-military and pro-empire." What troops? Support personnel only, mostly air traffic controllers. They "allow" us air passage because they can't really stop us if they tried to. They've also shot at US aircraft, denied us passage to go after the terrorists, they've burned our embassy and killed a Marine guard, they harbor the Taliban (most of whom are Pakistani), and they harbor Osama bin Ladin. They won't kill him and they won't let us go kill him. These are poor allies with a population that hates America and they are the most likely to "go Iran" on us and become an enemy of any "ally" we have. Did I fail to mention that they already have the Islamic Nuclear Bomb and missiles to deliver it with? It is you that is clearly misinformed.
It took 210 years for the US government budget to reach $1 trillion. Obama is proposing $1 trillion in new government spending in just 4 years. Both candidates have irresponsible plans but only one candidate's irresponsible plan will face major opposition in the Democratically controlled congress while the other's should sail through.
