At some point, folks become so wealthy and/or powerful, that their individual motives, perspectives and opinions are completely out of touch with the mainstream.

I'd argue that it's impossible to completely understand or categorize a guy like Buffett, or Soros, or any of these other hyper-wealthy folks.

Buffett is rich enough to dance to his own piper. I've got no problem with that. He certainly understands money. But I'm not sure he understands the linkage between money and the average American. His secretary notwithstanding...

...and the same thing can be said for politicians (and Hollywood) who claim they know the "average" American but are completely out of touch. I think this hurt H. Clinton, J. Edwards, J. Kerry, and A. Gore. Obama is also not an "average" American but timing is everything. The VP candidates are probably closer than McCain & Obama.

As Chris Rock said, I'm for the guy with one house. Obama may be living well, but he can't touch McCain's wealth. McCain has been handed opportunities his whole life and it took him a while to take them seriously.

i love the symbolism of each party's candidate.

the GOP nominated a silver spoon fortunate son

the Democrats nominated a self-made man.

I take nothing away from Obama's achievement.

But your disrespect of McCain's service and sacrifice is really embarrassing for you. He's an admiral's son and that means exactly jack-sh!t in the world you imagine him to be born into.

I believe you're talking about McCain but imagining last election's failure of a Liberal candidate, who - though not born with a silver spoon - faked his way into military medals and married his way into wealth. Nice gig if you can lower yourself to get it...

    You really are a joke.

Trying to compare a man who fought and was imprisoned for his country to Obama.

One is a war hero the other a left wing radical with political roots and associations tied to Marxist organizations.

Obama has nothing resembling the normal experiences of the average American worker or the "downtrodden" minority. Has he ever worked, suffered, or fought for anything?

LOL, are you f'ing kidding me? He didn't grow up well off, his mother at one point used food stamps, he made his own way in this world. McCain grew up well off and has admitted to benefiting from his family's legacy. He eventually got serious about it and sacrificed a lot for this country. But of the two I believe McCain is the one further removed from everyday Americans. Didn't McCain marry into wealth after cheating on his first wife?

it just kills you that the GOP nominated another silver spoon, drunk playboy.

the funny thing is it doesnt bother me, but i LOVE that it bothers conservatives. i just wish he was pro-choice, that would be perfect (im anti-choice myself)

i didnt mention mccain's time in the military. its amazing what he did. not necessarily the military execution, i dont know anything about that (although he did seem to crash a few too many planes), but very few men that have ever existed would do what he did as a pow. he is a hero.
