    :eek:lefire: I have a question though. I have been a regular at all home games and most away games for over 10 years now. The media has allways been down on LSU. Has anyone seen the whole page write up in the new Sports Illistrated. They never but that much coverage on just one game. My question is WHY? Why hate LSU so much?:eek:lefire:

    Have you thought about this? LSU lost a couple of spots by struggling against Oregon State, a good team that at the time was ranked about 27, and predicted to be the second best team in the PAC-10, behind USC.

    USC struggled against Stanford, a really bad team, that was predicted to be the worst in the PAC-10, was behind most of the game and only came back late in the 4th to win by a field goal, 3 points. Yet somehow they don't move from #1, and are plainly still the best team in the country.

    And some still say there's no such thing as media bias. :lol:

    Since you're giving up on poll watching for the time being, consider using my strategy when it comes to LSU and the rankings:

    If LSU beats both Georgia and Florida (*best case scenario, admittedly*), they'll be back in the top ten somewhere. From then on, it's just like last year just a lot less stressful since there isn't a team on the schedule from Oct 10 forward that should come within two touchdowns of LSU (Alabama is now crossed off due to Croyle's injury and, as spunky as Arkansas has played so far, that depth-challenged team will be well worn down by November).

    If LSU is 4-1 after October 9, it's basically a game of seeing which undefeated teams ranked ahead of LSU lose and when. If they win out, LSU will be the highest-ranked one loss team on the board (okay, FSU could make an argument there, but beating Georgia at Georgia, Fla at Fla and losing to Auburn by a point on the road is more impressive than what a 10-1 FSU would accomplish, IMO). Where does a 10-1 LSU team sit in the polls come the end of the regular season? Good question.

    Now, if they split Ga and Fla (possible, but not as probable as I once thought), then it's a lock for 9-2, and a top 10 finish with a bowl victory at the end of the year.

    See? No need to stress!

    Way to early to be stressed about the polls. Lots of games still to play. Winning will take care of the stress and the polls.

    I wouldn't bet on MSU certainly beating Citadel. They recently lost to that DI-IIA powerhouse Maine. I agree the polls are whacked. don't worry about it, they mean nothing. see - the results from 2003 LSU Football. LSU just has to worry about one thing - beating themselves.

    If (when!) LSU beats Georgia and Florida, I believe we will be ranked #6 - with a bullet! :grin: Because:

    * Either Oklahoma or Texas will have one loss (90% probability that will be Texas, dropping them farther, IMO, than Ok would drop);

    * There's a good chance that ohio State loses to Wisconsin (and an undefeated Wisconsin may not vault a one loss LSU team because the big 10+1 sux);

    * SC has to play Cal and Az State - good chance they lose one of those. That might, however, only drop them to about 3 or 4; :dis:

    * West Virgin could fall to Va tech (though I doubt it);

    There's a LOT of college football yet to be played! Win out, and it's a 50-50 proposition that we'll be in the Orange Bowl. If you're going to lose a game in college football (and just about every team does every year!), it's better to do it early in the season (unless you're oklahoma, and you've blown out everyone else all season!) :eek: And to think that we'll be sooooo much better in 2005 with a much more favorable schedule. Ya gotta love it! :grin:

    I know it is not popular, but I feel the rankings are fair right now. OreSt was not predicted to finish 2nd in the PAC 10, Cal was. Stanford, a hot/cold team went into the SC game undefeated. I don't expect the #1 ranked team in the nation to drop after winning a game. If anything the Stanford game proved that the other PAC10 teams will be able to compete with SC, and that should make the Trojans less confident heading into Cal, AriSt, and ND.

    In all the years I've followed college football, I've never seen a #1, #2, or #3 team lose a game and only drop 3 to 4 spots (during the regular season). I seriously doubt that if SC loses to Cal, AriSt, or ND that they will drop to 3 or 4. They may only drop to 10 (or possible 8 or 9), but I would think that is fair since Cal, AriSt, and ND will all be ranked when they play SC. The same way we only dropped 9 spots after losing to AU, or FlSt dropping about 4 spots for losing to Miami. It all works itself out as the season wears on.

    LSU has it's toughest games the next two weeks, the games are against highly ranked teams that will vault LSU over some unbeaten teams if (when) we beat them. A team with media bias against it can control their own future by winning games like these.

    I guess I just don't see the media or anyone out to get LSU. If LSU finishes the season with only 1 loss, we could still play for the NC leaving a possible unbeaten team out of the game . . .if anyone had total bias against LSU right now we would have dropped to 20 after the AU game with no chance to make up the poll spots. Instead we dropped a fair number. To look at vote count now is meaningless, this stuff is going to ebb and flow throughout the season, as voters get a better handle on how great each team is. We can all agree that MSU is not a real test for LSU, we have UGA and FL to prove exactly where we should be ranked. If we beat both teams, does anyone really feel LSU will be ranked lower than UGA or FL?

    Two words, Network Ratings.

    the higher ranked the two teams (UT,AU) are, the more revenue inbound from advertising contracts. Need I say more?

    Geez, we really haven't learned from last year.

    If we win out, we will be fine.

    Remember last year? LSU fought there way to the top when most in the national press said we couldn't get there. I remember the announcers in the SECCG saying that even if LSU won, they probably would not get to the Sugar Bowl. La. produces so much football talent, but when it comes to reading good press about us, we tend not to get it that much. I guess too much of the rest of the country believes that we all live like that water boy.

    We do live like the water boy with our mama, don't we?
