You are incorrect on your second point. The leveeing of the river stopped land production and build up. The digging of cut through canals through the marshes by oil compamies is what allowed salt water intrusion to occur which is leading to land loss. Ontop of that pumping oil out of the marshes led to subsidence of the "hard land" and allowed more salt water intrusion.
Thanks for reminding me that we are still in Kosovo and will probably be there for 20 years? Did Clinton lie when he said we would be out sooner? I do wish our exit strategy was better, I don't like being patient. I wouldn't make a good doctor. I prefer for our military to do what it does best, blow up things and kill people. I like the idea of Bush's plan but never would have the patience for the wait and see approach. I don't agree and won't defend Bush on all fronts even though we probably have more in common than not, including not trusting the Democrats to protect and defend the constitution and this country from enemies foreign. We've done a pretty good job defending this country from Waco, Ruby Ridge, Elian Gonzalez by the Democrats but they didn't seem interested in other enemies such as OBL. I would rather blow everything to hell then rebuild after the war such as Europe, Japan in WWII. Otherwise it just sucks in my view. Speaking of Pakistan is now teaching school children for Jihad, to die for the Islam cause according to Paul Harvey today. If there was ever a country that deserved for the works its this one, similar to Japan, if countries wage war against us then they should "fear us". http://ksghome.harvard.edu/~jstern/pakistan.htm Damn, with gas prices its too bad Bush's war in Iraq wasn't about oil! :dis:
The difference between Iraq and Kosovo, Germany and Japan is that their were not more deaths of US troops after the end of combat operations than during the operations in the later three countries. I read somewhere that more troops have been killed in Iraq in the past 6 weeks than have been killed in Germany and Japan in the sixty years since VJ day. Noone wins guerilla wars. They drag on until someone quits, and that is what is happening in Iraq. The war is dragging on. Why not take those 120000 troops and send them after Al Queda. Somalia, Pakistan, Indpnesia, and The Philipines seem like damned good targets to me because there is known terrorist activity going on there. The jihadists in Iraq will follow our military just as they followed us into Iraq. I remember Cheney saying this would take weeks not months. Bad estimate?
President George W. Bush, speaking amid protests and growing public unease over Iraq, said on Monday America owed it to the more than 1,800 U.S. soldiers killed there to complete the mission, which he linked with the campaign against terrorism. I admire his dedication to see a job through to completion. Even if it costs us another 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, right George? :dis:
How many protestors are really out there? I heard the news interview some protestors from Utah that said they were traveling to Idaho to protest there. Sometimes I wonder what these protestors do for a living or if they even work? We have a few protestors here or there and about 4 on this board! :hihi: You guys that are against this, are you saying we should cut and run? The only thing I will say about my position is I'm not thrilled about things over there but I'm willing to stay the course, anything else would be Vietnamish, a tragedy to this country, it would be a sign to terrorists that we are weak and give them more ammunition to attack us. I personally think we made a mistake by not kicking ass in the first place.
Yes why don't you do just that, like I said in a post a while back about "googling" opinions. You can get anything from A-Z. Like you pointed out about the deficit. It's all how you look at it. Case in point. Plenty of Oil
Keep in Mind I work for a major Gas Pipeline, the biggest in North America. No this isn't Oil but it's a bi-product or better put it co-exists with oil. There's definately no shortage of Natural Gas. More? Oil spooked?
Yes. Too late. This is already Vietnam part deux. These people have been fighting amongst themselves since the creation of time. All we've done is inserted ourselves into the conflict and given them a new target.
