Gallon of oil (light sweet crude) = $1.40 Gallon of coca-cola = $1.87 Gallon of milk = about $3 Gallon of Evian water = $4.52 Olive Oil = $31.53 Jack Daniels = $98.41 Visine eye drops = $766.72 When a gallon of oil cost more than a gallon of milk, i might raise an eyebrow. Let's keep things in perspective. http://www.cars.com/carsapp/nationa...&tf=/features/truthabout/gas/influences2.tmpl
How many gallons of milk do you consume in a week? One? Is milk becoming scarce and eventually run out? No. How many gallons of gasoline do you consume in a week? Twenty? Is gasoline going to become scarce and expensive and eventually run out? Yes. The 50 bucks a week you spend on gasoline right now buys you 20 gallons. When that $50 buys you 1 gallon and you have to have a ration card to get it, you might raise an eyebrow. And buy a mo-ped. Let's keep things in perspective.
I never said that the gas prices were Pres. Bush's fault. Nor have I ever implied that he can somehow magically control the pricing on the world oil market. I'm merely wondering why he isn't taking some sort of executive action to alleviate the current situation domestically. Big difference.
First of all, i consume a gallon of milk every three days. Maybe milk would become scarce if mad cow disease got worse. But i don't sweat it to much. Second, gas will never ever be 50 per gallon. Long before that point alternative energy sources and technologies will step in. The great economic balancing act will continue. But it will be a slow, painless process, watching a few technologies supplanting an old one. It will be exciting to. If i do get a moped i'm putting Monster big wheel tires on it and lightning stripes.
I wouldn't mind if everybody drove mopeds. I could do that. Getting groceries would kind of suck though.
