This is really going to hurt the oil companies in the long-run. It will only increase the demand and decrease the price on Hybrid cars. They have to know that and I don't think they are stupid, but maybe the greed has gone to their heads. The government will just screw it up. I would rather pay $3 than wait in line for hours. If we want to blame someone it should be China. Who said they could start driving cars?
just to add a little humor to this depressing stuff..... Listening to the radio on the way home yesterday, discussion was about gas prices, govt. price controls, remembrances of long lines for gas, gas shortages, govt. imposed 55 mph speed limits, and predictions that heating oil will be the next crisis in the north.....I was reminded of a bumper sticker I saw in Baton Rouge back then during the mandated 55 mph maximum speed days. It read "DRIVE 80 - FREEZE A YANKEE"
:rofl::rofl: That's awesome! The speed limit discussion is assinine anyway. I get better gas mileage doing 100 than probably half the cars/trucks get at 55.
I understand. As a veteran of those 55 mph days, I don't remember ever noticing any appreciable difference in my gas bill. Hope we don't see that again any time soon. Cruising along the interstate at 55 makes for a long day. :dis:
That depends on how big your engine is. If you have a high powered 6 or 8 cylinder that doesn't break a sweat at 100, then it is obviously going to be better than a lowly 4-cylinder which struggles at 80-85 mph.
