1. I suspect that youth and inexperience are a large part of TC's mediocre performance as a poster.
  2. I get dumber everytime I read a post of yours.
  3. Actually, that makes sense. I think it's your delivery that's abrasive.
  4. LSU's passing game was great through the first three games. Since then, they've lost focus and confidence. It's not about LSU lacking in depth or talent, it's just a psych job right now. They'll get over it.

I'm willing to bet that against AU, LSU will have a much more effective passing game.
  5. The problem with your logic is that you are making a sweeping comparison of two teams that are completely different. If this were an ACT or SAT, then you can make comparisons because the hurdles are the same.

We play in a much more competitive conference, have played much better competition to date, run a different, more-balanced offense, and of course, there are always exceptions to any rule. Doucet is our second leading reciever in catches this year, despite missing the last 4 games. That should tell you something.

What it tells me is that there is some senior leadership missing in regards to a highly complicated offense. Flynn can't do it all(though many on this board expect him to).

Have you considered that when they break the huddle, having at least one receiver who knows where everyone should line up and what routes they must run according to the defense(more options this year), might influence the production?

Can Flynn really be expected to correct every player(before/during the play) on that offense, on every play, when you continually see people missing their assignments(See Offensive line - last play of overtime, missed block - cost us the first down)?

Is it really just Matt or the coaches?

Is it possible that the offense has become complicated enough to occasionaly confuse 4 guys that didn't even start last year?

Is it possible that the receivers are occasionly making bad reads(their routes depend on the correct one) and not getting open?

Is it possible they are making the correct reads and still not getting open, because of better competition?

Is it possible that part of the time the new starters on the OLine don't make a good block even if the recievers get it right?

I will say this about Matt Flynn and the coaches. Even though they are held fully responsible for the negative outcome of seemingly every play, it takes a lot of people(eleven total, exactly) to do the right thing for a play to be successful. I liken this to patrons taking their displeasure out on their waiter when the hostess is rude, the bartender makes a crappy drink(and takes too long), the chef burns their steak, and another waiter brings the wrong food to their table. Amazing how the only one that suffers in that situation is your waiter, who somehow is supposed to INSURE that everyone else does not screw up. Because if any one of them does, he is the one that is blamed.

Matt is far from perfect but he certainly does not have the luxury that Russell had last year with the OLine and the recievers. Luckily, he does have a better running game to help take some pressure. Doucet being back should alleviate a huge amount of the load that all of these kids(and Fans) are putting on his shoulders. Oh yeah, and lest we forget, despite his age, he is having to be "the man" for the first time in his career. No pressure there, right?

Critisim is to be expected, but at least consider the elements that go in to any one play and try to make it fair. When you start making blanket comparisons to other players on other teams, it hardly seems fair to me.

  6. I thought college players were "kids"? :)
  7. Yes, cheers, I'll drink to that. (Can't give you reps !)
  8. Well Michael Clayton as a true freshman playing for Mr. Conservative, Jimbo Fisher, put up some big numbers. Tolliver in the wide open offense of Miles and Crowton hardly ever gets a pass thrown his way. IMO, Tolliver is the most gifted receiver on the team. He just needs coaching and opportunity.

  9. Earl Campbell was a system running back......

Crabtree is the first really touted receiver that Leach has had at Tech, and he is tearing up what the others did. Heck, Harrell is the first highly rated QB Tech has had. Yep, Tech shows a drop off when they play top teams, so do most any team. But the fact that they hang with top teams without the equivalent talent says something about the "system". As more highly regarded players come to Tech and the talent level gets closer to parity, come talk to me about this "system" not being an option for an SEC team.

Welker at NE and Crabtree will start opening some eyes of kids who want the recognition. These guys are players. And that is what makes the system work, it is not the other way around.

  10. That's because all 4 DB's were trying to figure a way to cover Josh Reed.
