It would cause a lot more contoversy if a team just refused to play in anything less than the championship bowl but thats not going to happen because of the money.
And why do Michigan and Texas deserve a shot at the national title this year? Don't they both have 2 losses, and we have 2 teams left with 1 loss, and 1 undefeated. So please explain how a 2 loss Michigan and Texas team deserves a shot and equal chance to play for the title game over those 3 teams, under a playoff system. For that matter why should the ACC or Big East champs have a shot at it at all? National titles should be played between teams with either no losses or 1 loss. The last time a team won the national title with 2 losses was in the early 60's with a 2 loss Minn team. The system is not perfect, but atleast the winner at the end of the season truely deserves it, and doesn't blemish the honor with more than 1 loss. Michigan and Texas had great seasons this year, but not National Title type of seasons. Only Okla, SC, and LSU can claim that right so far this year.
Neither Michigan nor Texas will play in the national championship game if USC and/or LSU have only one loss for the season.
BrettStah, I understand that. I was just trying to figure out how a playoff would be more fair (taking it from an earlier post on this thread), since both Texas and Michigan have two losses and we have 3 teams who are truely worthy (so far) this season. I think a playoff would be a slap in the face to Okla, SC, and LSU . . . since they are performing at NC type levels this season, considering the records, and other BCS conference winners are not (considering they have more than 1 loss). Of course if we or SC wins out, those will be the team in line to play Okla in the NC. And Texas and Michigan would have no chance, nor should they, under any system.
lets play Michigan in the Rose... Probably Texas and Ohio State in the Fiesta and Miami and Fl State in the Orange.... if USC play Oklahoma in the Sugar
I would play in the Fiesta over the Rose. Just my opinion. Pasadena is a pain in the ass to get to it is very expensive and the traffic is horrible. LA used to be part of an area I covered and the bars in Pas are bad on top of everything else. Tempe AZ is much better the bars are great the location is walking distance to the hotels bars stadium. I feel it is much more fan friendly, plus I live close. If we did get the Fiesta I would like a better team than OSU or Texas.
At some pint in the seventies a nine win Cholly Mac team turned down an invitation to the Peach Bowl because they fealt they were being slighted. I dont expect that to happen becuase it would be iodic to turn down the fiesta bowl's 13.5 M. I would respect it though. Oh and I want to play the Wloverines.
I would much rather play a conference champion should we win the SEC. There are many predictions that have us in the Fiesta vs Texas. While I wouldn't exactly scorn at the opportunity to exact some revenge from the Cotton Bowl loss they handed to us last year, I want a conference champ! I want MICHIGAN!!! ...Even Florida St--but ONLY if they beat Florida...anything less would mean taking on a "lesser champion" in my eyes. Taking on the Big East champ would also be something that wouldn't excite me. Who's gonna win the Big LEAST??? Pitt? WEST VIRGINIA?!?! ...Miami? I'd like to take on Michigan in the Rose Bowl...
I'm with Boston on this one. I would want a shot at Michigan if we don't get the Sugar. But that will never happen. If SC gets the Sugar bowl, then Wash St will play Michigan in the Rose. There is nothing we can do about it. I don't think that will happen though, if we beat Ark and win the SECCG, we will be in the Sugar . . . no doubt in my mind. And after that, you can beat the PAC/Big 10 will form conference games. It's their fault for not doing it after Oregon got left out.
